I've always mitred porcelain tiles when tiling into a sloped ceiling. Just the same but a bit more refined

only time a wet cutter helps is to put a good edge on a cut if that's got to be mitred

No nothing like that, just a regular cutting disc for the removal of most of the tile.
Then the final bit is polished back.
