well, my prices in dublin are €22 ceramic €26 polished porcelain €32 mosaic and €35 up for natural stone per meter,
i have qouted jobs recently at my prices, and people have told me that they got a price at €14 and €10. how the hell can a guy can you mach that.
i have insurance, advertising, young lad working for me, fuel, rent.
its just impossible.
one job i priced they guy came back saying the guy had made a bad job,
so he wanted it done again, and still he did not want to pay the full money,

like my dad used to say, ''you get wat you pay for'' and thats it.

have you ever noticed, you go to someones house and they have had tiling done,
and you look at it and you and i know its not the best,
but the customer is happy with it.

i am seeing this quiet alot. but any work that is done in a house by a tradesman, i.e carpentry, bricky, painter, all of them, a good tradesman will notice all there bad bits, even though he has not got a clue how to hang a door.

we are tilers we are in houses everyday we know wen we see a good job.

so thats my rant for the day. ha! ha! ha!

As someone used to say to me "The cheapest is the dearest in the long run"

and

yes .,flooring ie laminate is what i notice,i hate those beads around a room, better taking skirting off and they never get the flooring scribed around things..looks pants.

I must admit brian I have just done that at the customer request. They did not want the skirting taken off as they were worried about the plaster on the wall due to the age of the house..

try and stick to your guns times are hard as we know but try and stand out from the other tiler quoting like other week i did a kitchen and went up against a guy who was about 35 and tiling for 10 years plus then me a 21 yr old lad tiling for 4 years i was 30 pound dearer than the other bloke but i won the job due to having a tidy portfolio book and submiting a written estimate and general giving the customer more advice than the other bloke.

Obviously there is still alot of potential customers out there who are just after the cheapest quote but i wont touch them
