Polymer modified covers a huge range of screed admixtures and additives from flexibility enhancers, water reducing agents and plasticisers, water proofers, hydration retarders, reaction catalysts, etc etc etc. the most common I guess are the flexible thin screeds like bagged smoking compounds or sbr modified sand cement screeds and toes with water reducers whichperportto be fast drying. Of course there are loads of different types it there are also different combinations that the additives can be used in.

Ray t t - all screeds shold be clean and free from dust and debris likely to affect adhesion. Most screeds will have been on site for a significant period of time prior to the application of floor coverings and so are always likely to be contaminated with construction debris. Ergo all screeds require preparation. The easiest way to clean a diry screed is to sand it and vaccuum it or alternatively use a enclosed shot blasting machine. That applies to all screeds. Now before you all shout and say we never sand screeds - just because you don't does not mean you should not. I refer back to a previous answer -what we do and what we shouldmdomareoften very different.

just another thought may be the makers of the screeds should recomend what tile adhesives to use at the mowment seems a bit vauge a list of approved adhesives would help

I wold argue that the adhesive manufacturers should lean about substrates so that they can make these recomendations. Sadly this doe not happen anywhere near enough and I come across conflicts all the time. The best adhesive is the one which does the job most effectively not the one that is the cheapest, easiest available or what's in the warehouse running out of shelf life ......

Asit happens I do make recomendations about the adhesives that are best for we with Gyvlon screeds but am often ignored on the grounds that others "know better" or don't want to be told what they don't want to hear......

Diamond Pool Finishers

well i will never be using any gypsum based screeds for my swimming pools so it is something i follow more as an interest, than a necessity just in case a screed of this nature does arise then i will have a basic idea of what to do, and to be honest i would seek out ALAN straight away to get the best advice personally .
i have been looking at this product and thinking about trying it, but they seem to have an approved contractor scheme ,that maybe should look into
Waterproofing and Tanking - renders, waterproof screeds, DPM's has anyone had any dealings with this product, or perhaps you are on there contractor list ,with a certificate ??

Certainly hope not although I know of three or our pools which have been done with gypsum. It can be forced to work but realistically there are better materials or the job. I am surprised you've not looked at self compacting concretes though.

self compacting concrete ,are these the ones with the super -plasticiser in to make them flow really well
Self Compacting Concrete - Slump Flow Test - YouTube, i have heard about them but how do they work out cost wise, if its like most new innervations it will carrie a bigger price tag !!?

Noim no talking about super plasticisers. I'm talking true self compacting concretes which use powders as void packing to make them flow. Lafarge have perfected this technologybwithbtheir Agilia concretes...... Not wishing to sound too salesy... Coastwise they are more expensive than traditional concretes but if you take labour and placement costs into account they actually workout cheaper.
