Porcelain again

Ambitious DIY'er here.
I'm looking at using a 300 x 600 porcelain slate look tile (from CTD).
Because these tiles are only available in the one size I was just wondering if, as porcelain is coloured all through, it is possible to cut the larger tile into some smaller strips which I could use to create a visual effect.
So any thoughts please guys. Is it possbile, inadvisable or just a plain daft idea and I should go find a contrasting tile if I want an effect.

Thanks in advance.
Steve.

Should be fine. The grout will hide any cutting imperfections on the sides

The downside is that its going to take a bit of time. And it will use up a fair amount of diamond disc.

Unless you have a snap and break tile cutter.

I'd say go for it !

Hi steve and welcome... they have a few like this.. which one is it..?

Hi Dave,

I wish I could remember! I went over to the local store and saw the tile but I'm over 50 and I've been to sleep since then.
It's a black slate effect. On the web site I'm pretty sure was the Arduaz I saw. Guess I'll have to drive back to Wrecclesham and take a pen this time.

I'll confirm the name in a day or two just to be sure.

Cheers,

It's ok... Just some are not the same colour all the way through...will any edges be exposed..? or are you trimming..

Another small but fixable problem would be your cut edges would obviously be sharper than your finished factory edge but a bit of rubbing with a tile stone could dull the edge, unless your edges are beveled you should be fine, good luck,Mike

Thanks guys,
No edges exposed. I don't really have a plan yet just that I saw some tile laid together in different sizes which I thought added interest. I had imagined to lay the cut pieces in with the full tiles so I guess matching the factory edge to some extent will be required so thanks for the tip on the tile stone.
When I go back to CTD I'll make sure to ask the question re: depth of colour and take a careful look at the factory edge.

Thanks again

It was the Arduaz.

An almost black slate effect.
Chap in the shop said it would be no problem to cut and radius the edge with a stone to imitate the factory finish.

Thanks for the help. I'll continue with my planning.
