preping a brickwall

Hi,
One of my customers has asked me to prep a wall for him to tile onto as all his plaster has come off i was going to use rapid set to flat it out as he wants to tile it himself next day

Problem is
1) he is going to use tubbed to tile it would that stick to rapid set ? i normally just use bagged stuff when i tile.
2) I have given him a price but i found out yesterday my tile adhesive supplier has got into liquidation i wont have time to sort out a new trade account before the job so it will cost me a fortune for the stuff,

There is only about 1 inch from brick wall to what will have to be finished tile depth so i dont have much room to play with i was thinking of dot and dabbing plasterboard on, I have seen there is a new product out like the expanding foam for sticking boards on would this be strong enough to hold the boards and thing cermaic tiles?

Dot and Dab for me, might have to 'comb' it to keep the thickness down. as for a trade account, CTD usually open a cash account up same day. No Tile Giant near by?

hi is the wall an external wall and is it in a bathroom (shower or over bath)

With the time constraints I'd agree with the Healer, In the past I've drilled 8mm holes in the plasterboard & applied exp-foam through them in to the void if it sounds too hollow. Warning! do not over do it or you will cause bellies to form, this method is insurance so make sure the dabs have set....

Hell do you guys sit monitoring for posts that was fast replys :lol:

It is a internal wall in a bathroom about a foot is over the bath but not the shower end so cant see a problem with that,

I'm going to dot and dab then i used the bagged stuff loads of times just wondered what thestuff in a can was like

I seem to go through phases of doing tiling, I will have see if there is a tile giant or such like near me,

I have used the canned stuff a lot but wouldnt recommend tiling onto it i have done it once and wont be doin git again!

Ill be sticking with the bagged board addy. The canned stuff is great dont get me wrong but for odd small bits of boarding when you dont wanna mess around knockin up the powder or for skim. Its also great for window reveals, but again not for tiling onto.

I drill into the boards and fill them with foam too, mainly to pack out the back of it if i have to fix anything to the boards, it fills the void and stops whatever your fixing pulling through the board!

If your've got bare brick walls dry line with plasterboard with dry wall adhesive, so straight forward.
