OK John, i'am very sorry for mis- reading your humour mate you would have thought i would get it by now ,the length of time we have been in each others company on this forum , i couldn't understand what i had done to upset-you ,the last thing i would want to do to a tradesman of your superior standing so please accept my apology for my reply to you .

Ok.. i have said this so so many times and i have been pulled for it as well .. what one types on a forum is not what one intends to portray in said post.. it is what the said reader see's and takes the said words to mean...

But yet again.. i have meant what i typed to mean just that.. so work that one out :lol:

And what makes you think i have no idea how to do ?? it's the going rate i 'am not sure of ,

me neither at the moment, recently priced 2 floors, each 60m2 and as they were both less than 5 mins drive away I priced competitively,,,never even got the courtesy of a phone call back :mad2:

Not sure liking that post was the right thing to have done Doug ,from my part because i do like to hear that other guys -on this forum get the jobs because we are all doing this for a living, and that is very important to all of our family s, i don't even price the work my mrs DPF does and sometimes like you Doug we don't get the job, so it is a very important part of being self-employed we have to base our prices on some sort of reality, and national rates are a good place to start ,then if you are in a wealthy area /or poor area you can go either way from there up /down , good luck with the next jobs mate

I'am sure there is such a thing as a going rate but there are so many variables as Doug pointed - distance for one!
If you work for someone you get the going rate and that's what I get from the honorary member from Reigate. But when I'am local my own work is significantly more rewarding.
Even this thread is different as work has already been done for the customer and so a stronger position should be held.
So when pricing I always think how long it will take and translate that into a meterage rate - its what it's worth to me not what someone else wants for doing it!
