Still dont see the need for using Paper or Cardboard, to much hassle, and i wouldnt fancy tryin to get a piece of paper 600*300 Just to cut round a pan, you wouldnt get away with asking for paper for pan cuts workin for a company they would laugh at you, dont mean to offend anyone by that, Sometimes setting out the floor with the Pan in mind works ie Half the Pan but only as long as the rest of the cuts in the floor area are ok, but this isnt always the case, you also have the the Sink Pedestal to worry about in some bathrooms so u can work the floor in with the pan but ends up nightmare cut at the pedestal. you need to remember this!! always scribe, there are fast ways to do it!!!!!

Bit late in replying........

As I mentioned.....old vinyl flooring is great for making templates.........You turn up for jobs, and the old stuff is rolled up (If ya lucky) outside......you take it away. asked first of course.

Kept in ya van and cut of as you need:)

scribing is the only way for a perfect cut....a well cut scribe will look like the pan/pedestal is sat on the tiles

Hi newby here....
I have to do round an odd shaped pan this weekend, I am not sure what you guys are meaning by "scribe" are you leaving a gap to fill with grout ? Or should you put a silicon sealant around a pan ?
Cheers

Rubi gauge every time. Toilet, find the last tiles before the toilet, use spacers. Mark the tile to toilet from last tile, then the same the other quarter.

I then use the gauge, if it only goes around so far, mark that on the toilet and gauge and transfer to the tile to be cut. Repeat from the other end and marry up the line.

I then undercut the tile, checking against the toilet. 9 times out of 10 it fits second trim. May not suit every one, but I like it.
