can you see it getting as bad as the 1970 when we all/most of us went to Germany

I don't think so, i think the media hype it up to much. We were the last country to go into recession so should be last to come out. And with an election looming we will be getting lots of promises they wont keep.

from what i have heard we are officially out of the recession, this doesn't mean we're back to the way it was in 2007/08 when everyone and there dog could get finance/mortgages and spend as if there was no tomorrow but more a gradual increase and spending,it'll take a good few years for consumer confidence to hit the dizzy heights it was or even get close:thumbsup:

speak to a few Irish and Spanish tilers they are in a far worse state than we are here and what about iceland they are broke by their standards we are doing okay

Have'nt heard that were out of recession, all I here about is the public spending thats going to be hit.

anyone noticed that during these times of recession the only people that it nevers seems to effect are those that created it....i.e the big bosses at the banks are the inept politicians. just my point of view.

It's just the British Media habit of knocking them when they're down. Instead of a thumbs up hey guys it ain't so bad vibe, we get fed stuff like that. That headline sentence there, gooner, what would you do with that knowledge, whether it's true or not? (Which I don't believe it is.) Not really useful for anything except having a pity party. Don't go there, it ain't worth it.

'Always look on the bright side of life'

When I started at the beginning of the 1970's there ws a 3 day week and you had to save your Bal Tad buckets to get them refilled as there was a shortage of Oil by products.
In the 1980's I had 6 tilers and vans on the road at a time when there was apparently an economic downturn.
And now after a few years of boom its a short period of reassessment!
Take stock of what you have, what you've got to offer, keep a positive attitude and never use the 'R' word.

And apparently this is my 2000th POST
