Seal Guard / Sure Seal

We have a new advertiser on the forums and I wondered if any of you guys have used the Sure-Seal / Seal-Guard products.

One of which is the tile and grout sealer in areasol form! Fantastic idea.

Sure-Seal is the Worldwide brand name but as that's already taken in the UK we know it as Seal-Guard.

Yes I do use Sure Seal here in the States. I started using it about 1-1/2 to 2 years ago. The thing I like about it is you can apply it to fresh grout. I did try the aresol once on a backsplash. I have mixed feelings about it. The biggest is that we have had some serious health injuries from the use of aresol sealers. It was not Sure Seal, but another product sold through the Home Depots. I seems there was some chemical in it that caused breathing problems. So needless to say, I didn't use the can for quite a while. I was assured by Sure Seal that it doesn't contain the same chemical as the one from Home Depot. There cleaner 'Restore" is great and it does do what it says it will do. The only problem I had was not cleaning or rinsing with f enough fresh water after. The grout joints turned white in places, but the company said to apply more and rinse thoroughly and it worked. I now use a wet vac to remove all cleaning solution and apply liberal amoounts of fresh water and the wet vac. again. They showed me a paper towel sprayed with the areosol only partly and the wet it with water and the treated side stayed dry.

I thought something like that at first... glad to hear Seal Guard has had Zero problems related to that sort of thing.

Is it a popular brand over there too then?

It's very expensive, so not as popular as the lesser costly ones. I think it was around $90. per Gal. Conversions have not been my one of my stronger things.
In my defense I will say that I have converted myself to using the metric rulers for cutting tiles, etc. It is so much more accurate and it keeps everyone over here guessing as to what i'm up to.

Dan, It doesn't take much to amuse us old folks. It is fun to watch there reaction when I start measuring a room for tile and use a metric tape. Its especially fun when you call the measurements out out loud. An example is when its 4 ft.across and I say 120cm out loud or better yet don't say the cm. Their mind is still thinking the Imperial system and they are confused. See, that's what I'm talking about when I say "it doesn't take much to amuse us old folks"

Nah you're right mate. The thing is with most of us here we were once use to imperial measurements so now we would say 4ft 1" is 120cm and an Inch. - That's when it starts to get funny for us.

I had a demo of this in my local tile center today I have got to say I am very impressed with this it's cost is around £30 say's on the tin 600 lin meter 20 sq meters

Just to note. Seal Guard are just finishing off their website which will have contact information on it for your local stockist. So if you haven't found this so far then hang in there. I think they're aiming for the new year as a completion date for their website.
