At last, 2 very good cutters of different makes and 1 very good tiler... Please settle the argument once and for all Johnny! Ps, I'm reporting you to the cruelty to sigma help line for locking your 3c up in a box!!!
dont worry both sigmas get used regularily now that we are doing plenty of large format porcelain as well as stone.
to be honest until a couple of years ago 90% of my work was stone so didnt use snap cutters often . had a couple of tx 700. one was a gift from apex grange i think , and thought they were great.
then started doing some new builds with new contractor all porcelain and i gave gary the tiler a call for advice.bought one and then the other within a few months and now have got used to the change would never buy another rubi.
but that said only comparing the new sigma i bought to a tx700 that was pretty old probably not fair. the new rubis could be great.
but when it comes to sigma electric saws these two in my photos are at least 10 -15 years old the 9m and 10m and they are still going no problem.lost guages etc but not a problem.
rubi box cutters not in same league but then rubi had the only real good box saw 25 years ago and nothing could touch it.
wonder if there any around still.
they were about a thousand that time ago i think.
rubi overhead rail cutters for my business are not man enough except maybe the new one just come out.

The 10M is getting a bit of a makeover, although I just can't find a good enough paint match. The sliding bed is fine so doesn't need paint, but getting the two to match is proving difficult. The saw is 10 years old and still tight as a drum, just want to tidy it up a bit.

Is it very close? Got a few paint swatches from the paint shop of about 30 shades of blue and can't find one that's bang on. Looked a bit odd bringing a Sigma handle in with me. Pity I didn't have a dull standard red Rubi.

I think you'll find that the Rubi colour is 'matador red' :) :)

Its pretty close , if you are that fussy go to a paint shop and they can mix it for you...I think Halfrauds can too.

The Legend; Phil Hobson RIP

link worked fine phil and very impressive.
wish i could do this with most of the stone i work with.
would save me loads of money!!!

John you can cut most stone or tile with a pin hammer and tungsten tipped chisel. It was the only way before machines, I hope to demonstrate this dying skill on the geo course.
