Discuss Show Us YOUR Work Thread - Tilers Pictures in the Tiling Work Showcase Forum area at TilersForums.com.

Edit May 2024: THIS is a New Show Us Your Work Thread for 2024 Onwards

This is the new Tilers Showcase Forum where we want new tiling work added, with each tiling job you complete having a thread of its own so people can see what kind of work you do, and potential customers can find your work

I thought it was about time we had a thread dedicated to all members of Tilers forums to show us any work that they do.

Be it from installing a kitchen to garden decking. Show us your work! Get those pictures taken, but then do something with them! Actually add them to a thread and some facebook groups with your website link in them etc and it'll help spread the tile love. :)

If you have done a job then please do share it with us.

Pics are a MUST as what is the point of sharing a job without them...

So if you do a job and you take a few pics then please do share it with us.

Lets make it a big thread for all to view and input in.

Thanks Dave ..:thumbsup::thumbsup:

What are the rules (are there any?) on sharp edges and corners at head/falling over height?

I was worried about one in my bathroom and wondering if I should round everything off but there are quite a few in Rainsco's excellent shots so maybe I shouldn't worry?

If you're refering to his recent post just above yours, then if you look closely he has bullnosed and softened that ledge above the toilet

I was looking at the one above that with the cream tiles. They may have a slight radius on the edges but not much. Great looking work by the way.

Are there any UK building regs on minimum radius etc? I need building control to sign off on the extension that my tiling's in & wouldn't want to get caught out.

hi, the edges are not grout until now. but there is no need for any radius and not wanted. if a customer wants a glas table in the living room there are hard edges too. its a decision if the customer wants round rails or no rails. i show them before.

Thanks Rainsco

I've put a small 3/4 mm bevel on a ledge above the WC. Seems like the UK has regulations for everything these days & wondering if I've missed one.

This is a job we did earlier this year. We've done tons of work for this client over the years on various properties but this was a new extension to their main residence and has been in the pipeline for quite some time so was looking forward to it. It's out of our normal stomping ground but as I know the clients so well and they were hardly at the property due to being in various parts of the world almost daily we got full run of the house and stayed on site... i've dossed in far worse places!

The main ground and building works were carried out by others and then they handed over the site to us for the decoration and some additional interior finishes.

Nah the tiling wasn't part of our contract as it was done before the site was handed over to us. In general they made a nice job of it, wasn't perfect. In fact I could properbly tell the different areas which were done by different tilers. They let themselves down badly in 2 areas, one was with the templating or the marble at the top of the spiral staircase where there over hang went from between 10-35mm so it didn't follow the curve very well. The other which was really lame is that 3 of the large tiles in the en-suite had large chips on the edges, all at eye level behind the sinks. If they didn't notice those chips when they hung them they certainly would have seen them when they grouted. very lazy IMO. And funny enough the main contractor was having trouble getting them back on site to rectify.... do you know what? The contractor got his chippy to cut them out, replace and grout. And he made a perfect job of it!

Certainly not slagging the overall work as it was good and done to a decent spec as I visited site when they were preping.

The main part of our work was colour consulation, specing wall coverings and the decorating itself. We did get involved in other areas too but not on a large scale.

A small simple kitchen splashback using handmade ceramic Cotswold tiles in sage, latte & bone (15%, 25% & 60% mix laid in random pattern). Each tile different shapes, profiles and depths! Mapei jasmine grout & Silicon. And yes, the tiles are deeper to the right of the oven...... The whole kitchen was fixed on a slant!

Returning one eve this week to Silicon around cooker hood as customers painting underneath top units.

jeez who fitted the work tops lol ...

Those tiles are quite popular at present.

I know! A chippie neighbour I was told........ He is an expert in trimming plinths & doors though ;)

The transit wax on each end of every tile drove me cuckoo. I wish manufacturers would find a better solution, there has to be one!
