Ok to price up Shower enclosure for tiling with marble mosaics onto plastered wall that im tanking out with homelux matting then tiling onto that after sealing the tiles and priming the wall. Enclosure is an 1800x800 stall and was thinking including mats a price of 250 is that fair or too much? unsure
addy 20
matting 60
Silicon 5
grout 15
sealer 10

Cheers:huh2:

To be honest it depends on how much you are willing to do the job for and how much the customer is will to pay. We get some customers say that we price to high and others say that we dont price enough. Id put the price in that you have decided on and see if they go for it.
Also you shouldnt need to prime the wall after it has been tanked (I may have read your post wrong).

I'd say that it's too cheap mate. I'm assuming that you are tiling the walls but you don't mention whether it's 2 or 3 walls? I would of thought that you are looking at a couple of days to tank, tile & grout, let alone the drying time and then sealing.

You don't mention the size of mosaic, if it's 25mm x 25mm then that will swallow a boat load of grout , so you need to factor in the extra time and materials.

Depending on the marble, you will most likely require white addy (although you can use grey for the tanking).

But my biggest concern would not be price......You are proposing to hang a thin layer of adhesive, tanking membrane, another layer of adhesive and then a natural stone which will be at least 10mm thick plus at least 10kg of grout onto plastrered walls :yikes::yikes:. I reckon you may have some weight issues Davie.

Hi CS
Its 2 walls, havent saw the tiles yet so couldnt comment on the size but apart from that yeah everything you have just mentioned I was going to do but I hadnt thought about the weight issue.

Having more experience than me is there any way to get around it as tiles are bought by customer and walls plastered before my arrival??

Thanks:yikes:

You really want to be fixing onto either un-skimmed plasterboard or cement boards.

I would advise the customer that there will be weight issues but also sell the idea with comments such as "mosaics will show every imperfection in the walls", "it is unlikely that the plasterer, no matter how good he is will have got the walls perfect" etc. etc.

Are the walls stud or block? If stud, then just rip out and replace with new plasterboard. If block then you should be able to dot and dab new boards up.

I'm no expert in this area and I'm sure someone like Whitebeam will be able to provide better prep advice.

Good luck.

sounds a bit cheap imo opinon also davie mate,id base it on day rate,if you can do it in 2 days then 2 days money it is:thumbsup: i only apply sq meterage to large floors etc

Fair point ill see what the tiles are like and take it from there but will defo bear in mind the weight..Cheers.

ON the price front recon it would be 2 days work so maybe should say 200 for lab and 100 for mats, sounds right
