How do you all get work on site? Do you enjoy it?

Small sites are ok (5 houses or under), tried a larger site once, did my head in. Mainly things not done in the right order, rooms not ready, 30 day payment. Granted not all sites are like this but, my experience of larger sites isn't good.

Can't stand site work anymore!
Done my share 80's 90's early 00's all too much like hard work now.
What with health safety motto of
"Let me make it as hard as possible for you to work in a comfortable environment and while we're at it, gimme more money!!"

It sounds bad! Health and safety gone bonkers if you ask me. I would like to try it one day to experience the mayhem. Could be good for getting the contacts suppose.

The 70's was the best time on sites but even Whimpeys (the builders not the burger bar) were hot for health and safety even then.

Done other things in my early years and beyond...tiling was taken more seriously in my later life.

As a trainee u need site work!
It's something u must go thro to learn ur craft!
It forms the basis of our trade!
There u can make mistakes and it doesn't have the implications that a private job would have!
U need to be around other fixers to start with.
It's like being new in a job and having to make the tea for 6 months,
A necessary evil!

I am going to ring a few Tilers through the week to see if they need a tea maker and il bring the teabags, although I do need to get the cscs card. The test has gone up an extra £2, that could of got the teabags and milk.

Most tilers who been tiling a while dont like site work ,about speed really as moneys poor ,crazy conditions ,once you do private work always more enjoyable

Its not as bad as long as you have your ppe on when leaving a plot you will be ok health and safety isnt that mad im still outside the the plot with my 110 grinder and no goggles i havnt been pulled up yet lol

Most tilers have cut there teeth doing site work......Some have even gone back to it...........It is hard work , and you have to be quick to make serious money.......but that will come with experience .......if you are new to tiling and can get in with a tiler on site........you won't find a better apprenticeship. ..

I agree mate ive learnt the job on site and doing some private and site is by far a better place to learn
