Slc Method, My Way - How To Use Self Levelling Compound Properly

Tried this method for the first time on my latest job and I like it. Managed to pickup some mosaics to make my dots, and set them using my laser level, and made runners with my level. Definately got better at it, the more I did. Put my level across it today and laughed when I saw the whole 2m span flat as a pancake.

I have to ask though, could you ever deviate from it slightly depending on the job? Eg. Could you flood the bays to just below the runner level, and leave to set. Then finish with a thinner pour, to cover the tops of the runners. The thinner pour able to be finished with a spiked roller and feather edge?

Definitely Denis, I have done it both ways, I just think the bays contain the slc. Glad you got a result.

Thats interesting lads have any of you got pics of the bay's filled in ? i suppose you do alternate bays , the bays look very small is there any reason for this ? how about a thin polymer screed instead ? .....

These were quite big bays dave, some going from 0mm to 30mm, to thin for polymer sand and cement screed. I like to use smaller bays so the slc can top up each one.

...cheers phil! Your method works a treat and gives perfect results.

I set my dots with screws and laser, then made dots in to small blobs of rapid flattened down to screw head, so there's the dots, ... Then runners as you suggested with 3:1. ...flood bays , job done, went home and slept like a champion 🙂

Cheers Mark aka charlie1, glad I could help mate. I know everyone has their own ways, that one works for me.
