Think about portrait instead of landscape .. Just a bit different.. Plus .. Your friends and neighbors won't have it... IMO..
I too is fed up of "Stretcher Bond"

If you go for clean lines, you can either follow the last pictures, or work each row from the centre; or you can alternate rows, centre the tile, then centre the line. Personally, I'd go for brick bond in such a small area, then you turn the tile round the side wall.

Try drawing the lines on the wall if you can't make up you're mind.
