Must admit, usually like just a bit of snow, but the centrtal heating STILL not fixed properly - anyone know how to unclog a microbore system when all the chemicals have failed?? :-( Snow needs a warm and cosy house to come back to...

A plumber came to look to see what the problem was, said a powerflush wasn't any good, arranged to come back to do something else but never turned up, made another date, never turned up again, so he's out.... previous plumber said they just need bleeding, (bits of warmth on top, cold at the bottom, but most radiators not warm at all), Howard has been bleeding them and pouring stuff down into the system umpteen times, still no good. Haven't had a powerflush yet... and not sure what that actually means.. something to do with magnets the plumber said?

we had our central heating powerflush last year and we now have heat like never before, its like a suna in our house.

what they do is to flush all the muck out of the radiators and the central heating system, and then put a magnet thingy on to some pipe work in the airing cuboard and it catches all the metal rubbish that comes from the inside of the radiators and helps stop it building up again.

If your rads need bleeding they'll get hot at the bottom and cooler at the top. The more air that's in them, the further down the rad the cool part will be. If you bleed them slowly whilst on you feel the heat rise quickly up the rad. Test one to see. Get a towel but it only dribbles a bit if you only open the valve just a little.
