what do you use for cutting out a plug socket(s) in the middle of a tile, not a nip job, a full blown square or rectangle in the middle of a huge tile that you have advised shouldnt be allowed anywhere near the kitchen as weoghs about 30kg lol

i use a drill and an angle grinder to cut the straights, what about you

this may help the newbies lol

Cut through from the back, scribe the lines on the face, cut from back with wet saw, then across two cut lines and knock off the two halves......Gaz

What about drilling and using one of them tile cutting jig saw blades. I've seen them advertised and in tile shops. Any body tried them ? look like a lot of broken tiles and sore fingers to me!!!

my wet saw has a removable guard..so i just plunge cut the tile over the blade..no probs...

We sold jigsaws with the carborundum blades, they were absolutely crap.....couldn't cut a cheap 6" 8p tile with it.....Gaz

Dave's done it before the quickest way but if its a slab 20MM plus thick some times use a grinder
Gaz jigsaw blade not much good on granite a lol

plunge cut of grinder after scoring with dry rail cutter. Then just finish off with nipps.

grinder with wet sponge never dry cut it

Be extra careful when using water next to electrical tools that arn't designed to be used with water.... or you will be doing a strange kind of dance......

not quite that daft Dave :8:

Hi Mate,

I would probably try and make a hole with a hole cutter and then do the rest by file and parrot nips.

Do you other guys think this is one way to do it?

try plunge cutting a tile with your wet saw its the easiest way ive found but wear googles as the bits fly up at one hell of a rate

115mm grinder always does the trick and if that doesnt work for u then do as the previous tiler said get hammer and chisel out lol

agree with all of you, prefer grinder as plunge cutting gets me fooking soaked lol

I would advise the customer on all aspects of global warming and urge him to reduce his carbon foot print and allow me to tile over the socket, thus doing his bit for man  kind and caring about tomorrow today.

Socket hole cutting

Hi, I mark out and cut from the front first then finish off at the back, always use angle grinder with diamond blade.

You will find that to do plunge cuts on your wet cutter, it is better just to do those cuts without water and you won't get wet...any chipping will be hid by the socket face plate.....
