splashback i will be doing....

hi guys I am going to be doing a kitchen splash before xmas need some advice on how to handle it don't have much experience in ripping out cheers . got some pics of a couple of the issus I am going to find myself with here you go.... first pic basically the walls are partition and the tiles are running behind the kitchen cupboards.... I have 2 solutions to my knowledge either remove the units or chisel along the edge and take the tile away which I feel may be the wrong descision so any advice on handleing this will be great. pick 2 with the pipes Im pretty sure I can pack out the area around them... split a tile twice and get a nice snug cut around them? and any other advice will be brilliant thank you

Are you sure the tiles are behind the units not just the cornice ?

well one side runs up against the unit but the other side is actually behind

You will be taking the tiles off ? yes ?
I would imagine you can take off what you can see and usually more of the tile behind the unit will come away too . Leaving you to tile and slip the tile just behind. Silicon it up and jobs done.

ok mate thanks yeh il be taking them off... if the plasterboard comes away with the tile which im guessing it will, to replace plasterboard do I then just simply cut out the shap for a tight fit or leave expansion? cheers

Yep, cut along the shape.. You may have to add some noggins though, to get the plasterboard solid. If the tiles don't come out from behind the units, chiseling will be fine mate

I got ya mate you mean if I cant fix the boards nicely to the wall due to the cupboards stopping me add some timber.... is there a set size for all partitions built in this country or can it deffer that way I can get some before going up there as its in the sticks I will add some anyway for experience lol thanks beanz

No set size haha! I wish! Na, you'll have to measure it bud. Or just get some CLS, and just screw it so its flat at the front..

il measure it got to find out what width p.b is too also if it is that the walls were previously skimmed what should I do just add a thicker p.b if poss? whats best solution mate

It shouldn't be too much of an issue, as you'll be re-tiling the area you replace. There might be a slight over lap, but you can just take off some of the adhesive to get it flat. That said, if you're lucky and they've used 9.5mm, then yes 12.5mm should bring you close enough.
