thanks for trying to help me guys . i saw two moderators watching this thread but they did not contact me to try and help so i am out.

Well excuse me while I extract the magic wand from my backside.
Maybe if members would report these issues directly to admin or mods then we could look into it. But...think of it this way, if it were a common fault and one directly linked to this forum then why is it not happening to everyone. It certainly doesnt happen to me and never has ....but then I dont think I have ever spent 15 minutes writing one thread.
That said it could be just that , that the software sees it as inactivity.....but then again I leave the forum on when ever I am in the house even if I am not reading it and dont have this issue. If I cant replicate the issue then I cant see what you see and neither can the mods.
Other issues may be causing this problem like your Internet provider or maybe the way your PC is set up... My honest answer is I dont know , So I need to pass this over to Dan.
Throwing a tantrum wont solve it though.

sorry got a bit annoyed as i have a problem to solve today and hoped someone could help with answer.
i will be brief.
stone presealed with stainstop.
fixed grouted and sealed again and finished last week.
i was asked to put building paper down and then cordec by stone company but i said cordec was not a good idea as i have had experience when the floor has sweated under cordec when heating left on for months whilst building works were finishing.
whole floor had to ground down and repolished.
i was not blamed as i only put building paper down and contractor put down cordec.
so i only cover with paper this time as before.
builder has now had other trdes in with muddy boots and ripped up paper and client complaining .
will write last bit when posted this in case loose it.

i now have to go down tody to patch up floor with more paper.
one question was why cant put cordec down if stone presealed and therefore floor dry now.
i think the answer is that floor can sweat even if stone dry because of ait trapped between stone and plastic.
is this correct and would this only happen if heating on or even if not on?

other question is does anyone know of another product that could be used instead of cordec on top of building paper. it must be able to breath.
dont want to suggest ply or hardboard as have had problems with that as well if something gets spilt on it and resin can bleed in to stone.
i will be on site in 2hours and any suggestions i can give contractor would be good.
they are not used to doing stone floors i think and think i am being over fussy.

Cookie Problem / Being Forced to Logout

Apologies for not picking up on this sooner. The problem is nearly always related to your locally stored cookie in your web browser. I've just changed the cookie prefix so everybody will have to login again, and that'll store a new cookie, and should solve the problem.

Here is how to fix it your end in the future though:-

Login to the forum, then click log out. You'll get a message saying your cookie related to the forum has been erased. Then close the web browser down fully, start it up again, login to the forum (remembering to check the box "remember me") and that'll store a fresh cookie with no issues related to it.

If that doesn't work your web browser isn't letting the forum erase your cookie. So you can manually erase it. I'd need to know what browser you use to help you do that though.

You can also use the auto-restore feature if you lose anything you've typed on the forum for whatever reason. If you logged back in, went to start a new thread again, and look in the bottom right hand corner of the message area you should see the wording 'restore post' which will restore your post. You've probably seen the yellow box pop up when typing a long post about every 20 seconds saying "auto saved". So it'll pull up the last saved point. You might end up with a couple of sentences missing on the end.

Though as I've said before over the years, it's not a forum problem, it's browser and operating system related in 99.9% of all cases.

Make sure you keep your browsers up to date. And to test if it is your browser, try using another one just for 10 minutes and see if that kicks you out, I bet it doesn't (unless it's using the same cookies).

Jonnyc I am having the exact same problem at the moment so would be very interested in a solution.
Ive laid around 120mtrs of Basalt(!) and some areas under the cordec have sweated leaving white deposits. other areas are free from staining so it's not the end of the world. Had a bit of a mare all round with the basalt, but that's a different thread...

Ok I know basalt. I will try and find your thread about your problem and see if I can help.
one thing I can say al is that even though have been fixing limestone for 20 odd years I am never surprised by the problems stone can throw at us.
every stone has it's own little individual features and some of these are destined to try us.
strangely I like this as it is so much more interesting than just laying a ceramic as was the case 25years plus ago . I would have been bored stiff and given up tiling within a few years.
but early 80s the terracotta and slate came in and I loved the variance and challenge.

I don't know how much stone in general you fix but basalt i have only come across and fixed in last 7 years.
theres all sorts of new stuff coming in with their own set of problems and it's all fascinating stuff.
this is where I have found the forum so helpful.
there are guys on here that specialise in porcelain and I have been given some invaluable advice.
my little boy has just seen the icons on rights of screen that I have never even looked at before and he chosen to give this a

i know graham Oliver from many years ago when he worked for castellnau tiles iin Barnes before he went off to do his own thing with Hyperion.
think he's done really well on his own and we have probably quoted against each the other.

Hello again jonny. Nice to hear we have connections! Going back a few years to my tile making days with Doug but I do still see him around.
This site has been a great source of info to me through the years and is invaluable to anyone serious about their profession.
