Well apart from being a S**t hole it aint known for much, which is why i moved to hertfordshire which is known for having lots of fields full of goats, sheep and cows which keeps me amused.

The Platt brothers came from Dobcross which is within the borders of Oldham. These went on to become the largest manufactures of textile machinery in the world.
Sadly due to the invention of Nylon ( New York, LONdon ) and other synthetic materials cotton went into decline and there isn't a single cotton mill left even the Elk mill has made way for a retail park.
