Some of you will know I have had an issue with the stone that was supplied by Lapicida. What you will not know is that Lapicida saw my post about there stone on this forum and kicked up a fuss about it with my client. insisting that there tilers lay this stone all day every day and have no problems.
To cut a long story short my client felt he had no chose but to let the tilers from Lapicida do the job, this floor was worth £15000.00 to me so as you can imagine it was a bit of a blow to loos that work.
But I bit the bullet and finished the rooms I had started and removed all my tools from the job.
I got a call from my client when they realised all my kit was gone asking when I will be back to tile the remaining bathrooms (there is not a lot of money to be made in the bathrooms and without the floor just not worth the grief ) so I explained that as I was not tiling the floor I had took on some other work and would be of his job for 2 or 3 months and that I understood if he could not wait that long and got another tiler to do the rest of the job. Again to cut a long story short he said he would rather wait for me to fit the job in (probably as much to do with the fact one of the rooms is on the top floor and worth nothing so it will be hard to find a tiler that would be willing to do the job as any other reason) anyway I said I would try and fit the job in at some point. He did say he still wants me to do the pool area but im not going to hold my breath.
One of the lads on site told me the tilers from Lapicida was going to start the floor today so I made an excuse to be on site just to see how they got on with this rubbish stone. Now I had advised that the back and edges of the stone be sealed before they were fixed as it was a very light and pours lime stone. They started tiling ,no sealer and did not to my knowledge back skim the tile but hay ho they are the stone installation specialists and must know something I don’t. at one point I walked past the room and the one lad was jumping up and down on a thile trying to get it down (probably a new method I will have to go back to college to pick this one up)
After seeing this I decided it was time to go to my other job and get on with my own work.
I got another call from the lad on site when I got home he told me that the tilers had taken up the tiles that they had laid and was complaining that the tiles were out of square. At this point I could not here anything as I was rolling around on the floor. I am going to wait to get 100% confirmation from the site agent that this is the truth and then I will put another post in the open forum lol.
