I have been getting e-mail from bal asking me to sign up to tiler world it seems they are going to rate tilers who use their products have a technical forum and give out job leads , I dont use Bal products as they are over priced how many of you guys are signing up to this and do you think it is an attempt by bal to highjack the domestic market ? what is interesting is the forum part of the website,could this be them trying to ruin this forum which is definately the best one around ?

Hi gary.....

If you look into properly , you will see that it is just another tilers register site...

You use their quote builder and quote using BAL products.......and the customers give a review on your work and that BAL products were used...

The more reviews you have and then they say you get a better place on there list for fixers...Which was about 7001 fixers listed.....a lot of competition already eh..?

Anyway IMO it is based around BAL sales...the more fixers on their site using BAL products the more sales they make....

This isn't for the fixer ...it is for BAL ....and thats not fair on the fixers IMO...


As for the forum...they have always had a forum and that didn't do well last time they tried...

thanks for that Dave , i was reading the tsj and it had a big article in there about it, i signed up to tiler world a couple of weeks ago, i dont think my rating will be very high as i use palace lol

No probs gary..just annoys me when it is blatently obvious what they are doing.....

But a lot of fixers are quiet and will sign up if promised work.....but over 7000 fixers already registered is alot of tilers to get work for , even if they have feedback they will be against a lot of other fixers for the same job, then they will start undercutting just to get the jobs......

i registered for it but i wont be using it as i reckon its a waste of time.. talking about bal what has happened to the bal pst's on this site??

Bal psts...mmmmmmmm...now theres a question.I wonder where they are getting the forum ideas etc from.I do beleive that the Bal HIERARCHY log on here.They came out top of a few polls if i remember correctly.

As Dave says, it is 110% marketing fodder for BAL but aside from that, I have found that putting a copy of the "win back the cost of your tiling" form in with my quotes is certainly not putting the customers off!

I'd suggest using that alone (unless you are a tiler based in and around Preston!)
