Hi guys,

having been looking into trying to move abroad and have come across some people saying i will get better money, but alos people saying not much of a difference. Im looking into Dubai and the general feeling is that it used to be a lot of cheap indian workers that got the jobs,as basically it was good cheap labour for the company, however i am being told that this is all changing, and the rates are alot better.

Obviously the initial bonus is the tax free thing, however is anyone aware how good/bad us tilers can expect to be paid in Dubai?

Think there has been a thread on here before about this, Dubai economy is in decline ! So prob not a good move !

i looked into this and found that a company / agent was offering in the region of £900 a week Europe and other destinations. remember you might have look at the taxing situation though ,Not 100% sure on this part but if your not away from UK for more than 180 days you are still taxed at the uk rate i.e taxed at local rate say @15% then also you would have to declare the other 5% here in uk ( remember thats 6 months @ 21600k) if you`ll work here the other 6 months remember you could then be in the higher tax bracket.

Remember I am not sure if my facts are 100% right but its something you have to look at .

I was in Dubai with my old job a few times. as you say indians everywhere working 24-7 for peanuts. Good finish as well i have to say.
Ive a tiler mate from New Zealand who is married to a local girl in Norn Iron. He was fixing for 3 times down there what we get.....maybe thats the way forward.

He just tiles for booze money as he is a semi-pro rugby player!

Hawaii - average setters pay would equal about £1800 a week- working for someone else.
self employed setters can make twice that. The guy I learned from makes equal to about £7200 a week. (700,000 usd a year) He runs a crew of 4 guys including himself and does both tile installation and granite counter fabrication and installation. And the guy has nothing to show for it. Drinks his money away...

haha,im off to hawaii then!!!
Im heading over to dubai next week,so i'll see what happens-fingers crossed im packing my bags for good shortly-the uk is fast becoming depressing!!

i would have thought anywhere in europe would be a good move especially spain with their economic climate
