tiling and screeding floors

Hi guys i have a floor to tile , but have to get the old tiles up first which will be a pain , and then re screed floor as tiles are onto concrete and concrete will be damaged when i take up old tiles , so will want a smooth base to tile to

whats the best screed manufacture to use ardex bal ? mapei

i'll then prime floor then use 2 part flex adhesive

What manufactures do you guys prefer to use for screeding and priming and adhesives

Do you mean re screed or self leveling compound

no need for flexi on a concrete floor m8

Use something like Mapei Ultraplan - Broken Link Removed - levelling compound to prepare if not too severe or I would use Mapei Fiberplan - broken link removed - if the repairs are up to 30mm thick, just be sure not to lay more than 10mm per coat.
Then just use either Mapei Mapeker, Mapei Keraquick or Mapei P4 for fixing, depending on your tiles. Then Mapei Ultracolour to grout

Thanks for the help guys , well hopefully when i pull up the old tiles they will be less than 10mm deep holes so i will be able to use levelling compound , if they are deeper than 10mm i'll have to screed the floor i hope thats right ,

You could patch the deeper holes if needed then lay a self levelling screed over that

mapei and Ardex both do good slc's mate. My preference is Mapei

That depends on the choice of tile quackfly, Porcelain and natural stone would need a flexible adhesive.
I would always use flexible for peace of mind.

There are quite a few levellers that will go way above 10mm.

some of the newer fibre reinforced levellers go to 50mm in one coat

Thanks Gary, I have just asked a question somewhere else re: Level Flex. I am a Mapei man, but I tried this a couple of times.
