screw the floor boards down and screw 12mm ply over the top, staple eml mesh over the ply wood then tile it with ardex x16 with ardion 90 mixed in it thats how we did it 25 years ago nowadays though I would over board it with backer board

The market is flooded with cheap imported ply these days, prone to leeching, de-laminating and warping. I for one prefer not to take the risk on my jobs of using it. It's hardiebacker for me. Also I like the idea of a bed of adhesive underneath it to nullify any voids that you can get with ply, even screwed every 4". (30 + years for me )
