can you have it checked without going to the docs?

I dont think you can get it checked without the doctor sending you for a blood test. The doctor sent me for one a year ago it came back at 6.8, then she slapped me with a prescription for statins, which I duly threw away and cut down on a few things.

If you fall below 5 its supposed to be safe.

Total cholesterol – less than 5 mmol/L
LDL cholesterol – less than 3 mmol/L
HDL cholesterol – more than 1 mmol/L

Never had a test and was too scared as i put on loads of weight, now im 2 1/4 stone lighter i might get mine checked.

However i have just had a rather cheeky bacon and egg sarnie on oaty brown bread with tom sauce so maybe i wont get it checked this week

MJ, do you have a bicycle? I found that just by getting out for 30-40 minutes on a bike a few times a week has really helped. I now cycle around 40 miles a week, including a big 20 mile trip early on a sunday morning.

I also walk during my lunch breaks at work - 20 minutes, covering about a mile. And me and hubby have given up using the cars at the weekend, so we walk to the supermarket which is fairly close to us instead of driving to a bigger supermarket miles away. And we have a dog, but we only walk her twice a week cos she's got little legs :lol:
