Went to my local Topps Tiles today in the Northeast, he tells me that tile it all have just been taken over by Travis Perkins. He also told me to watch this space because rumour has it that Asda/Walmart could be buying Topps Tiles. I know it seems unbelievable but walmart is American and in America they have tiles in their food stores.

They called me a couple of weeks ago and asked me to open a trade account. Wanted 3 receipts from other shops to prove I was a tradesman. I asked him where he got my number. Answer, Yellow Pages.:mad2:

When I first started out I tried to get a trade account at Topps and they told me I had to make 3 purchases at retail before they would give me any discount. Told them to **** off and I haven't been back.

I went into the local Topps to get 4 bits of slate for a patch up job this week. Assistant manager asks why I haven't been in for a few months and gives me the "new" trade price list. Apparently he has a new area manager who wants to get a lot of their trade business back again. I told him that he needs to improve on the so called extra special discounts 'cos they don't come close to what I'm paying elsewhere and start recommending me a a fitter. "Oh!, I can't do that...." I walked out having just paid £4 for 4 bits of slate, robbin 🙁
