Tough lessons

Sorry if my post offended you MG, I wasn't talking of hindsight, only copyright 😉

It has been a learning curve, as others have said, at least you are now better prepared for any future proposals.

I wasn't offended at all, really. Alan, I've given myself a good telling off about it myself, but just wrote it as it was... to me it's a hindsight thing..

Ah, ok thanks, thought I might have offended you 🙁 which was never my intent, i sometimes come across a blunt, not meant, sorry again, hope you and Gary are ok at the end of it.

You know you made the right call Gis.

Although a right kick in the guts it is for you.............it could have been worse, legal wise.

Can you not return the un-touched gear for a re-fund?

Oh you know, glass and me, find it hard to let go off , it WILL be used... :20:

Hi Gisselle.

I'am not sure which design it is that you were looking at as I only have a book titled 'the rug collection' by this co.
It is a fantastic book with some wonderful designs of traditional patterns from over the last 2000 years ranging from the romans-greek-victorian-mexican you name it a pattern is included.
My question is 'How can you copyright a style' .
Your designs are unique to you and as such your style is unique and as long as your pattern is different to others mentioned it is an individual piece of work.
The only analogy I can think of is the top fashion labels that get copied within days by high street shops with slight variations.
All my work is possibly from something I've seen before from Brick bond travertine/victorian floors/to a tree over a bath!!!!!
The only cause for concern I have with the thread is the fact that the trading name link has been given and the possibility of copying mentioned which may affect progress!
Keep up the good work.

John.

Onwards and upwards G! You learned some new things from all of this so never let it get you down

:-( Yes those were all the thoughts I had before I knew better. But here we are talking about the Sicis flower power collection, and those flowers being so big and dominant and the customer liking the almost photographic style and wanting the same flowers just as big and the same colours - it's not just a pattern any more...suddenly you recognize the difference see the links below ...

Anyone copying my appletree? They couldn't cope!

No wonder the customer liked the design, but for her being that naive to demand the exact design, colours etc and not listen to you when finding out the copyright about it and understand the changes that needed to be made I don't get. If she wants that design she has to realise it cost.
She should appreciate you offering to change it so she could have got it anyway.

tough luck there MG, I know how excited you were about this project. I suppose the copyright thingy is a bleeding minefield! Yourself and Gary have my sympathy:thumbsdown::thumbsup:
