Trowel size for travertine.

Evening all, will be fixing 10x10 travertine to flat kitchen walls, would you use standard 6mm trowel or an 8mm,

how thick is the trav Harry? if it's 10mm I'd use an 8mm trowel probably, 6mm if it's thinner than 10mm

Hello Harry,
i'd use the 6mm maximum an even a 4.5mm if you have one.
If the wall is flat a light bed will let your tiles sit very flat easily

I take it your talking 10 inch square, 8mm minimum and if the walls are naff I'd be using 10mm

well there is Flat an then there is FLAT Harry , if your confident they are spot on you might be ok with 6mm but 8mm gives ya a bit more room for error mate

My response was in the thinking that the tiles are 10cm x 10cm which are usual on kitchen walls and therefore a lighter trowel.

Harry - a 10x10cm travertine tile will require no more than a 8mm trowel depth - but I always flat back the tile as well!
Don't forget to seal the tile before grouting.
