Hi All

I'd like to lay Karndean flooring along with underfloor heating. Is this possible? If so, what type of heating do I need? It seems different companies say different things; some say in-screed only, some say carbon matts and others say ribbon heaters.

Cheers

ask karndean direct i would like to see what answer you get as i have asked a few times and never got a straight answer personally i would not have ufh with it as i dont think it need it

We can offer you 3 solutions for installing electric underfloor heating under Karndean.

1) If it's a new build, an in-screed system would be best see In-Screed Underfloor Heating | Electric | Uheat

2) If your not going to lay a new sand/cement screed, then we'd recommend using our floortec system, which consisting of several layers

Karndean
Floortec (7mm)
Vapour Barrier (0.2mm)
Heating Mat (1.5mm)
Insulation (6mm)
Vapour Barrier (0.2mm) (only needed if installed on concrete base floor)

See 140W/m2 Underfloor Heating Mats for laminate / wood flooring from Uheat for details

3) Would be 100W/m2 underfloor heating mat covered with a self levelling compound. See Underfloor Heating Mat 100W| Electric | Uheat

If you would like us to work out some prices please feel free to email the details to [email protected]

Warm Regards,

Peter:thumbsup:

Hi Guys,

Just to follow on from what Peter has Said.

Yes, you can fit ufh underneath Karndean and Amtico Flooring. Both types of flooring state that the floor should not be taken above 27 C (81F) and you should use the HT (high Temperature) adhesive they supply.

The ufh needs to be switched off at least 48 hrs before and 48 hrs after installation.

If you have any further questions please give me a call on 07887 545757

I like the look of Karndean flooring, so do you think it would be out of the question for me to ask if you can send in some before and after shots of the floor? It sounds like it'll be a really nice one! 🙂

I can help with getting the pics online if that helps you.

Don't forget to use the correct adhesive to cope with the ufh....or it will peel....
