nice trick is tooo get some bonding and muilti finish you can get them marked down in price if the bag is riped i get most of mine that way they just put a bag over it sorted ££££££££2 job done
mix your bonding as you do then put in a blob of PVA in it and a good hand fell of muilti in it too so its creamy so you get a backing coat and a finish coat in one trust me it works iv done it loads of times and on finishing jobs too too build up the wall
:dizzy2: works over artex too
i use muilti the most over most reskims over new/old plasterboard artex not used board finish alot

definite no no! your adhesive will never set.
artex should be steamed off, not scraped (asbestos issues) and shouldn't be plastered over as the moisture in the skim can de-stabilise the artex:thumbsdown:

Good job we have Plasterers contributing to the forums to ensure that correct advice is given.

as doug said,

artex should be treated with care now especially as in some tests it was found to contain a form of asbestos up until 1991..there are specialist companies now who will come in and test the artex for asbestos so you can have that peace of mind. it might cost a few quid but what price do you put on your lungs? overboarding artex is another way so solve the issue too but seal the artex first with an acryllic primer to minimalize and particles from coming loose and always always wear a mask!

you can hit all sorts of problems trying to plaster over artex and it should be avoided as doug says because you cant guarantee it really. we are all aware of all the tricks of the trade ie adding to your mix etc but its better to teach people the correct way first on here rather than encouraging techniques that in reality cant be relied upon, they can be hit and miss.

also 12.5mm plasterboards for walls too as stated above..

cheers

I served my time as a plasterer, nearly 30 years ago, unless gypsum bonding has changed in that time, it's a definite no as a safe tiling substrate.

Latest Album Picture have a look m8tes its not bad white tiles from pound shop £1 half m2

as a backing coat if you put muilti in with the mix 5/6 hand falls per bag mix its ok m8te creams up the mix and you get a good spread ruiling off troweling up ect ect packing out walls then you use the standed two coat finish then tile away:thumbsup: even try puting in a small blob of pva

ahh, my apologies, you are actually putting a skim/topcoat on top of the bonding concoction
