Re: van....

I know someone selling a van but I think it may be out of your price range and no credit !

Re: van....

Ash, why not get an old estate car and black out the windows in the rear so people can't see in?

Re: van....

yeh I might do that I was thinking that in the first place its just if im going to go a buy I may aswell get a little van instead but if I see something I like car wise I will go for that instead 😉

Re: van....

Hi john nah mate in order tonreceive any sort of loan from them i have to have 3 months solid work booked in the diary with names and numbers to proove i am going to be getting the loan im in it on me own mate lol

Re: van....

learn to walk Ash! what's more important the tools to Em the job or the vehicle that gets you there?
When i started out i had a fiat bravo. Bought it for 350 lasted me two years and was cheap to run and insure.
A perfect motor for you to start with would be a Kangoo or a partner. car not van. seats for the family and ample boot space for tools.

Re: van....

yeh me and the missus was discussing a little more in depth about a car after girl racer red said earlier matey. think we may go with that as its practical and also means I am ok to sell my current car to put towards it instead of me missus trying to get herself on the road in the future with it. I think I may go with something like a zafira I like them too tbh il have to just wait and see what comes along cheers Ali

Re: van....

Buy mine mate 150k on the clock, starts every time, reliable , Renault traffic , 11 months mot, pm me an offer .......

Re: van....

Any people carrier type car is perfect. loads of space in the boot. I've had a Picasso which in my opinion was the best, and you can fit 2.4 lengths of trim or timber straight through with ease.
The money you save not having to keep two vehicles on the road can go towards a van in the future mate.

Re: van....

I started off with Peugeot 205. Back seats removed, tinted windows. It done me until I upgraded to a fiesta XR2. Both got from auctions for about £400 if I remember rightly. Got a year out of both.......then they fail on MOT.

Got a £700 Bedford Rascal then.........that lasted almost a year. (Worst thing I have ever driven) Back then to another Fiesta.

my first decent van was a Kangoo........I thought I was the dogs do do's then.

DONT take finance/loan on a shed..........they break down as much as a cheapy.

No rad no armrest lol, i rest them on the steering wheel factory tinted windows so its cooler in summer, air-con,electric windows, chilled glove-box, 6 gears, ply-lined and carpeted ,tow bar/electrics ,.....

just been looking at some insurance for people carriers was playing around with employment status and geuess what... if you state that your unemployed it doubles! ridiculous. what do you guys think I can put my status as to get the cheapest? cheers

You put the truth ortherwise should the worst happen the insurance company will wriggle out of it and you could leave a 3rd party taking action against you or their insurance company .

ok well I cant seem to get any less than £3,000 premiums as a tiler and on business use so looks like even a people carrier is out the window

Ash, do you think it's worth getting a job, any job, doing something else first? Before starting to set yourself up as a tiler? Going self employed from nothing is a big commitment and is going to test you to the absolute limit. Earn, save some money, start tiling part-time, build up your reputation, upgrade your tools/vehicle, and then go self employed when you have more customers than time in the day...

I find its still better to call the company up. Today I called my insurance to notify that I have changed my reg plate and they didnt charge. Most companies its a £25 fee.
So far they have been a great company to deal.

Brick layer is one of the cheapest, carrying tiles is the same as carrying bricks is it not? 😉 I used to use my sierra estate, not many of these left now so a mondeo would be your best bet, you cant get a sheet of 8x4 in but the 6x3s fit in 😉

hi racer tbh with you I just cant do it any more im tired of walking into work and being told there and then it is my last day. i was nearly fighting with my last boss as it just done me in and its always the same just as you get sorted and comfortable your let go. at least with this self employment i know where i stand with myself and if work does come along then great if not ive learned to cope without the money for now
