Hire van, drive to Germany

I see a lot of cheap van hire offers on the internet. but they all say that you can drive in the UK only..

I need to drive to Germany collect some materials..

How would they know if I just drive through the channel on the other side and back? I am sure they dont have any satellite mumbo jumbo to track the vehicle.. do they?

insurance could be a problem though.. whats worst case scenario if i drive the van into a jerry car?

Check with the van hire company, if you do have an accident and you don't have insurance your'll up a big creek without a paddle....

I've known lads do the same.
Problem is with most, they're worried about losing the van to people just sodding off abroad. So they'll want a specialist insurance which ensures that if they do lose the van, they get paid in full for it.

So make sure when you do find the firm that will do it, you make sure you give them all correct information on convictions (both driving and regular) as you'll want to be insured properly.

Maybe, but you'd have to tell them the vehicle isn't one in your name.

But yeah technically you're insured. There may be some clause in the hire contract though stating you forfeit your future wife if you do that. So I'd have a read.

Youll need a green card to take a vehicle into Europe.

You may also be limited on milage. I think tjis is usually 1000 miles. So youd get about as far as Dortmund befire you'd have to turn around and come back.

These days, u can fly there, hire a van, drive it back and hand it in at an office near u! (Fees apply)😉
