broke my wrist working in spennymoor trying to retrieve mortar boards from a skip, spent the afternoon in darlington hospital where no one could understand my accent, also took the tip of my finger off with an old 9" concrete block and not long ago a brand new saw jumped when i was checking out the doorway on a sheet of play and went through my thumb!
nowadays i get wrapped in cotton wool at 7.30am so i don't hurt myself:drool5:

Spennymoor and darlington..Both right next to me..

Got the hump with a drill and the lead all tangled up, it was on a table and just pulled the lot off forgeting there was a drill in the chuck.

It swung down to my knee and entered, the only way was to reverse the chuck to work it out.

Down to Northwick park hospital Harrow to get a jab, was told if it had entered slightly lower it could cut a nerve and disabled my leg.

Did'nt get the hump with a drill again.

Lost a finger climbing up metal shelving when i jumped down my wedding ring caught, when i hit the floor i was holing my hand thought its a bad cut my mate said lets see what you've done, opened my hands to show him i had a bone sticking out he draged me upstairs to the first aider. On the way upstairs the store manager said whats he done enjoyed showing him and waching him turn green, later in hospital they aputated the rest of my finger down to the last knuckle. The funniest thing was i had been married a few weeks are priests name was Father Ring god that was 30 yrs ago. :16:

Just south of Spenny... Newton Aycliffe..

Quite a few pubs next to that asda.. and some quite dodgy ones..lol lol..

we drank in the one that sits on its own in front of the shopping are virtually facing the asda but on the main road, all i can remember is joanne ran it and her husband looked like phil stamp that played with middlesbourgh before she bought her own pub in crook

I Used to be a centre lathe operator. Got a job to smooth out corners on cast cam shafts with abrasive cloth like sand paper. After doing about 100 of these cam shafts my hands were getting blisters and cuts, so asked foreman for a pair of gloves, (a big no no when using revolving machinery but was young and didn't think. Foreman should have known better.) was going fine shaft rotating at around 350rpm then all of a sudden cloth snags grips shaft and glove and pulls hand into the cam shaft, Stop machine with safety brake take hand out of glove which is wrapped around shaft. Have 2 gapping wounds 1 from bottom of thumb nail to knucle the other on forefinger from knuckle to wrist. Thumb had split tendon forefinger cut across tendon. Went to hospital spent 4 days in then home with big bandage for 6 weeks, sued company got £7000. Company was at fault.

the worst i have seen was a guy drilling through a big rsj up a step ladder ,i was holding on to the rsj with his arm around it ,next thing i heard was a ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ,looked round to see he drilled through the steel and straight through him forearm , he pasted out straight away i ran over with a mate and hold him up , not that he was going anywhere ,my god the blood ,never seen so much ,, he came round and was crying out in pain all we could do was hold him up till the ambulance and fire crew came to cut him free , on a brighter note ,i meet the guy out on the **** one night ,he said thank for everything got me a beer . nice scar ,about a 32mm bit scar

ive done several over the years

caught back of hand under a chop saw, poured boiling bitumen over fingers of other hand

put a hole in my right wrist severing main artery while removinf a large sash window

broken arm by bending it back against itself and snapping it at the elbow

fired a spit gun through my hand in the fleshy bit between hand and thumb

I dont know how many times I broke or fractured fingers

fell from a roof and smashed left ankle, detached tendons, stretched tendons, fractures and breaks, ......I was lucky to be able to walk again without a limp

but the one I wont forget in a hurry as I had to go and get my bottom stitched was when I fell from a roof and landed on the sticky up bit on the end of a bandstand

I wont go into details but it hurt a lot and I had to show it the nurse:yikes:
