which cordless drill

I have 2 x DeWalt DCD980L2 18v lithium XR's for every day drilling/driving & a DeWalt DC234KL SDS. They get a pounding all day everyday. I also have some cheap £100 Makita cordless 8391DWPE's. It was my quick replacements at the start of the year after my van got tanned. So glad to be back to DeWalt. They don't hold much a charge & torque ain't so good

I use mainly Ryobi. The lithium batteries and a fast charge kit are essential. You can pick the drills up cheap as chips and you'll get a good 18 months out of them before the chucks go. I just look after the batteries and change the drills every year or so.

My corded drill, corded SDS, Jigsaw, angle grinder, rip snorter & detail sander are all Ryobi. They are all good robust pieces of kit & they get frequent use. They've not let me down yet (touch wood)

DeWalt here - 18Volt. I have the radio charger, several compact drills, the right angle drill, and the work light powered by the same battery. My first DeWalt I bought 8 years ago needed the chuck replaced last winter and now the trigger is all or nothing so that one may be going soon but good luck with all DeWalt so far. I beat the heck out of all my tools every day and they take it well.

Milwaukee works for me, dewalt I would'nt give them house room due to there rubbish batteries but thats just IMO.

Had a Ryobi grinder was a powerful tool used it everyday, burned out after five years use only cost me £30.

The grider i still use today is a 240v ryobi. I bought it to cut some small uncalibrated slate. That was about 7 or 8 years ago. The corded SDS a bought around the same time gave up on me last week. Proberbly fixable, but i got a Mkita instead.

I would not bother with the Ryobi.

Just that my ryobi batteries finally gave up today! I've had them since new on the drill driver, hammer drill and jigsaw. They have been used to do ply floors predominantly. Other use has been with my 365 hole cutters and numerous DIY jobs as well as mixing all my grout. It tends to mix better than using my dewalt.

ive had them just over four years and the units are still going strong. Debating whether to buy new batteries or just get some flashy new makita gear.the batteries in all honest have been going for around the last 6 months. 18v, they have served the 100 I paid for them!

The drills are cheap enough to replace. Thes batteries are far better than the one+ batteries. Like i say i just replace the drills every so often.

For mixing as well Rubi have a basic line mixer for around the 80-90 quid mark. Far better than using a paddle in a ryobi drill. Chucks are renowned for being a bit poor in their drills.

Cheers for that link Ali, cheapest I've seen and will defiantly be buying some. Got lads of Ryobi gear, most of it 18v and IMO it's decent quality. It gets used and abused and has never let me down
