Will it bring the earnings down?

this falls back to the original question posed....even if these tile training places issue bits of paper stating the you have attended and trained there..does this make you experienced enough to actually go out into the work enviroment? ...i dont really think it does, could you learn to do another manual trade after such a short period of time??,i very much doubt you could.........

No certificate in the world makes you experienced m8, that just takes time, nobody has experience when they first start to do something new, but qualifications help (a little) to satandardise the industry, imo all trades and skills should be standardised and should be a legal requirement, stop the people who just decide one morning that they can tile then start ripping people off right left and centre doing very shoddy work because they were never taught that there is in fact a technique and knowledge involved, your not just sticking tiles to walls. So to answer your question no, a 'bit of paper' does not make me experienced, but it gives me the knowledge i need to go out and get that experience.

its just struck me! the business to get into is selling tiling tools!! all these punters coming out of 4 day training courses, its a licence to print money!! i wonder how much dave from tradertilers turnover has went up ??? kerching!!

your very right about your last comment, but, who is it you actually practice your newly found skills on to start with?,theres only so many friends houses you can tile i guess, and how do you know if your doing something the right way first time round, with no one there to tell you different??,im sure these guys cant remember everything they have been told in a cram packed week...i certainly couldnt!!! its a much better option to attend at least a college course or similar with a realistic time frame for practical skill learning and assesment evaluation and gain a true and realistic grasp of the trade and techniques required to work within your choosen trade.

ive read a few scary things on forums recently!! one was im going to give up my 30k job and go on a tiling course!! another was looking for advice , he was fully tiling somebodys bathroom with marble and wanted to know which trowel to use?? im thinkin if you dont even know which feckin trowel to use should you really be doing this!!

I couldn't agree more mate 🙂

Now that i have absolutely no arguement with epoxy, bang on m8. The 4 day course i attended was absolutely spot on, but i did a lot of tiling before i ever dared to take on a payed job, i have spent a little time with more experienced tilers on a few little jobs aswell. I think it would be very foolish to come off a course and expect to be the best of the best and I certainly don't pretend to be as good as tiliers who have been doing it for years. Most of my jobs are kitchen splashbacks, kitchen, bathroom & conservatory floors, and as i posted in the gallery page have only recently took on the job of my first fully tiled bathroom as a payed job. Slowly slowly is the key, only take on jobs you know 100% you can do to a professional standard. I certainly don't practice anything on a customers job but i cannot speak for everyone.
