So you've just paid over €1,000,000 for your Spanish villa and you want the water contract and bill in your name. The local water company says that as it's a new contract your sewage system has to meet current regs so your cesspit is no longer acceptable and you have to have a septic tank with deposit installed, not a soakaway. Here is the result that supposed "experts" installed. "The water in the deposit will be clean enough to water the garden and there'll be no smell" ......er,no. The deposit fills up in 4 days so I fitted a pump and connected it back up to the old cesspit. I had to remove it when the inspector came to sign the work off and he took the owner to one side and said " Everything is fine, I'll sign it off" then in a whisper..." To save you having to have the tank emptied you can connect it to the old system when I'm gone..."!
