Would you fix them?

Started a job yesterday and tiles came to site today. Plain gloss white ceramics, 7mm thick. No biggy allbeit boring. Heres the rub. Customer want's a border of mosaic and the damn thing's are literally half the thickness of the field tile.

So how would you go about it?

do the field tiles first, then use a dog tooth screed to build up the addy for the mosaic borders.

It's fairly rare for the mosaics to be the same thickness as any field tile so as per Doug build out the gap to the size of the mosaics.
Would be keen to see some photos of the finished job.

I'm not familiar with the term 'dog tooth screed'

Have pointed out the issue to the customer, but you know how it is!!

The original pattern was for the mosaic to be the top finish, (ie half tiled wall), but I talked her out of this thinking it would be easier to run a cut course above finished with trim.

Ill take a look at the links and will post pics of the finished job.

Taken a butchers at the link which shows how to do vertical. I guess for horizontal you have to run a second batten?

Hello all,

I thought I had seen this discussed previously and now at least I know what a "dog tooth screed" is!! Am I wrong in assuming that you let the screed set then addy over the top??! (Sorry if it's a silly question but have always been told "Never assume, always check!!)
