ok, I know a similar tradesman, a plumber who has a tiler employed full time, pays him £200 per day. This plumber quoted my mate £1350 + VAT to repair a leaking pipe and re-tile floor (no more than 3m2 polished limestone). Thing is he is always packed out with work because his reputation is very very good, and people are therefore happy to pay that sort of money.
now i know we're going wrong somewhere!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi all,

Whilst posting my flyers last week, a bloke came out to his van who was working on this house,I got to talking with him,and he asked how much a metre I charged,I told him around £18 m2, he said we we was way to cheap,he was a builder but charges £55 per m2 inc mats for tiling. He said he had a rake of work on,and was even paying his plasterers £250 a day. He took our card anyway, and said he could make a fortune out of us.
What dya think about that kind of rate peoploids.
Vinnie.

Just doing a job at the moment travertine It's a kitchen and walls, some areas have quite a bit of cutting £40m2 not including materials. On the plastering side I have never earn't £250 a day, £150 is what I charge working watford/Dunstable areas, london is different alltogether.

Large housing developers, Maunders , Redrow etc have been charging these rates for years and making fortunes out of the trades.....Gaz

Nice work if you can get it. Fair play to him i say!

I was speaking to a few self employed mates in the pub last night and they all say im too cheep at £ 100 a day and i should be twice that as that have seen my work. Im now pricing at 150 a day and am booked up to march so i think i will start aiming a bit higher again. But £55 a m is alot when we have poles over here working for £6/m. Mind you thay dont speak English and live out of a van. When one client mentioned their price to me, I offered him their phone number. He went quiet as I was about to walk out, dont think he wanted 3 foreign blokes living on his drive for a few days!!

You get what you pay for!
