SBS Trade consumer units

Thought I'd give one of these a go.
Very easy to order and they build the board for you in the order you want. Next day delivery was free.
First impression is that it's very solid and the front comes on and off easily.
(So much space!)

When I fit it, if it doesn't look too rough I'll post some photos!
Obvious drawback is lack of ability...

Help me work out how to wire these wall lights please.

Hi, Phil, UK, DIY.

I am trying to move two wall lights either side of a fireplace and add a 240v feed for an LED strip lighting driver. We're building a media wall, the LED driver will power LEDs in the niches. The wall light on the left of the fireplace needs to go further left, the one on the right needs to go further right.
I've taken the old light fittings off the wall and chased out the wall to extend the wiring left and right.
The light on the left has live, neutral and earth (red...

240V LED indicator in fan circuit

I have installed an inline bathroom fan with timer plus lighting pull switch and isolator switch. I have also fitted a 240V LED indicator across the switched live and neutral circuit. This works fine except there is some feedback from the fans switched live circuit when the pull switch is in the off position (fan still running on timer) as the LED faintly glows. Any thoughts on how I can fix this or is it to be expected?

This LED indicator has been fitted in case I forget whether the pull...

Occasional tripping x one light circuit. But is a double feed the issue?

DIY query

Have narrowed down the source of an occasional trip to one light circuit which is a varilight v-pro master dimmer slave set up.

This is one of 5 LED, low total wattage light circuits connected to one 6A RCBO breaker (so the issue could be a short or a ground leak). Zero problems with the other 4 circuits.

It was a professional installation with no issues for over 6 months then suddenly a trip. Initially identified via multimeter that one module in the master (not slave) had...

Help picking a new SDS battery drill - Day 3

Good morning I'm after a new battery operated SDS drill.

I currently have a Bosch SDS hammer drill 240v that I bought 10-15 years ago for home use, however after being in Electrical vehicle engineering, I'm now doing L3 Electrical Installation and realised I'm going to need a battery SDS. I already have Milwaukee 18v and 12v battery system so was thinking it would be better for a Milwaukee SDS, but which one is the question. The price isn't an issue, but I have no clue if I should be...

"voltage relay" instead of RCD ?

So I'm getting my flat in Kyiv (don't ask...) done up.

I'm using quite experienced builders who have their own tradesmen. Now when it came to electrics I had two main questions: 1/ sizes of the cables on each circuit and 2/ Would there be at least one RCD in use ?

For part 2, he came back and said "RCDs are not very common - we use voltage relays". My search in Ukranian reveals that I think he means this sort of thing:

Anyone know anything about a Flash Thermostar 421

Callout was 'underfloor heating not working in bathroom'.

Board:

The 3 heating circuits pass through the Axiom/Proteus contactors, which get triggered by the Flash thing. I've only found manuals for that thing in French and from sites that want money so far and I'd be comfortable if I knew how it worked.

It's likely adacemic as the Flash thing was clicking on and off, and when it was on, both contactors were...

Circuit with 3 switches and 4 lights no longer working

Hi all. We have a complex circuit in our house which I believe has been wired incorrectly. Despite that, it has been working until I changed two light fittings at the weekend (these are temporary and will be replaced with new lights after decorating). This is how it's configured, with both new and old wiring in place:

Bottom of the stairs - 2 gang 2 way switch, 1 gang for downstairs lighting and 1 gang for upstairs. The upstairs gang has a permanent brown live into COM from another cable...

Advice, help needed with training

Hi to everyone, this is my first post so if is been already asked/answered please guide me to the relevant discussion/thread.
I don't know exactly how to format this so i'll jump straight in, i am 31 y/o looking to train in the electrical field, multiple reasons for that but as for everyone money and career progression is at the top ( currently working in a warehouse with virtually no career progression opportunities and just a bit over minimum wage ). I was looking online at training...
