Megger BM222 Please help with Fault diagnostics

Hi
I own a Megger BM222 meter with a fault. It works on the 500V range, but there is no output on the 1000V range.
I am trying to figure out what the fault is so I can fix it.

On the 500V range, I can hear the internal relay clicking when the button is pushed.
When I push the button on the 1000V range, no clicking can be heard.

If you have a BM222, can you please tell me if you can hear the relay click on the 1000V range?
Does anyone have a service manual???

Induction hob and ovens supply

Looking for advise on how to best tackle this scenario. I have a single radial circuit on B63 MCB that used to feed very large Rangemaster cooper. Client want to split this into induction hob and dual oven but wanted to leave existing 10mm cable to avoid chasing walls. This 10mm cable is connected to isolator above the kitchen units. My plan is to replace it with small sub DB with RCD and two breakers to feed two separate radial circuit to induction and ovens. What donyou guys think...

Without Internet

I was looking at a thread about how many devices people have connected to their WiFi and got to wondering. Firstly how reliable are your internet connections ie how often do they go down and generally how long for? Secondly what is the impact on your life if your internet at home fails. Are the devices that are connected to your WiFi important or are they trivial distractions you can easily live without and are they still working fine if there's no internet connection?

Where I am internet...

Can Easycert no longer be used?

Hi. I’ve been using Easycert for a number of years but on a recent NICEIC assessment I got marked down as a non compliance as Easycert is not updated to the new amendments. The assessor told me that Easycert can no longer be used for any installations designed after amendment 3 came into effect. Has anyone else run into this issue? Surely this would make Easycert unusable for many

Tennis court lighting

Good afternoon all,

I have been asked to quote for an LED lighting upgrade to 2 x outdoor tennis courts. The existing metal halide lights are mounted on lamp posts, 6 per court. Could someone please advise on an appropriate amount of lumens per LED light and any preferred brands?

The tennis courts are for the local village community and are only really used in the spring and summer months.

Thank you in advance

2391 query

Hi, I completed unit 112/012 through my 5357 apprenticeship..
I’ve been told that this qualification is equivalent to Level 3 Award in initial verification of electrical installations (2391-50)

Is this true?

if so would this mean that I only need to complete the 2391-51?

Together would this mean I am qualified to 2391-52? Or would I need to sit the actual 2391-52 to be solely 2391 qualified?

I recognise those frequencies, it is not a Walkie Talkie, it's a ham radio, and one needs a licence to use it. PMR466 is what I would call a Walkie Talkie.

Tariffs, batteries, and solar. How do you select? and does it matter?

1744106247374.png
My off-peak tariff has ended, and for a few days on a standard single tariff until I change supplier, but cost has not risen much?

Changing because the supplier I have has dragged their feet for a year, and still no payment for export. But I have been charging batteries overnight, then they have only discharged to 80% and then latter I have been exporting for no payment.

Working out tomorrow's weather is not...

Sole Trader.

Hi all, please bear with me in regards to this post and the questions that I’m going to ask.

I’m currently a year out of my time. I am yet to obtain my 2391. Do I need to acquire this before being a sole trader?

I am currently employed with a social housing company..
Is it possible to be employed and be a sole trade still at the same?

I’ve been quoted £520 including vat for the year with an accountant. Is this good?

If I get small jobs like changing lights / sockets like for like can...

Earth bonding to Water

Greetings, I am homeowner and looking to confirm if I will need earth boding to water pipes.
There is already earth boding near Gas meter and the gas copper pipe enters the house.
Water main supply is via blue plastic pipe (MDPE) which then connects to plastic pipes and also some copper pipes (pipes under boiler are copper pipes, central heating pipes (flow and return pipes) are combination - somewhere copper somewhere plastic).
The consumer unit is metal box with RCD protection, the are 2x...

Convert under cabinet lights to plug-in

I generally leave all electrics to electricians but I thought I'd see if I can fix this current (LOL) problem myself...and with your help obv. I have a sequence of kitchen cabinet lights under a glass, floor-level window sill which looks great but after 25 years has failed. There were three small connected lamps that sat under the glass in a recess that emerged at the wall to a transformer and this plugged into the wall. Returning to the kitchen section of my Wickes I bought three of these...

Water mains earthing

Hi.

Currently my water supply is via a lead pipe which has an earth fixing point (boxed in so is inaccessible) just above the stop ****.
I plan to relocate where the mains water enters the house, and will be using a Philmac Universal Transition Coupling to join the existing lead pipe to new copper. This joint will be inside the house floor plan but beneath the floorboards.

Given the UTC is plastic am I ok to leave the existing earth in place or do I need to run a new earth to the block...

2 Rate E7 Sub Meters with relay switching required, Any suggestions ?

Hello

I am having a mare trying to find a dual rate meter with relay switching.
This is to replace 12x analogue meters and timers to switch an E7 contactor.
I have already tried some that were supposed to have an active internal relay on Rate 2 (E7) but have found there can be numerous set ups for the same model. The customer wants digital meters but I am struggling to find a replacement.

I would be very grateful for any information or knowledge of any makes/models that are available or...

Replacing consumer unit

Currently our CU is a plastic unit fitted around 2004 and it has 12 MCBs of which 5 have RCD protection.

In terms of hours, how long would it take and how much roughly would it cost ( location London SE22 ) to replace this with a modern 16 way unit fitted with :-
A) SPD
B) Transformer for 12v door bell and video intercom
C) 12 transformer to supply 5 (7 watt) LED down lights.

Finally, which brand of CU would you recommend?

Old MK Sentry and RCBOs ?

In our workshop/stores unit we've got an old MK Sentry CU with no RCD. The work benches all have RCD sockets. I'm planning on putting in a new radial for the washing machine and wondered if a current RCBO would fit in the old CU or if a RCD socket would be the only way forward.

It's a nice size unit. Can get 4 Transits in with ease and only 2 of us that ever use the unit, and I'm mainly there to work on my own stuff 🙂 Now that I've fixed our donated washing machine (pump bearings worn) it...
