s plan 8 zone ufh diagram?

Adding a zone valve

Im working on a heating system that's currently all wired into an ufh wiring center. Another zone on a different floor is being installed of heaters (no actuators).

My question is, would you wire the new zone valves and stat into the existing wiring center and use one of the free actuator terminals to connect it all up as there's no other space or install a serperate wiring center next to it?

Thanks

Hive connections

A neighbour asked me to connect up a Hive wireless controller.
Seemed easy enough, it uses the same standard back plate and connections. Straight swap there… and disconnected the wires going to the room stat, and linked through in the wiring centre.

That was before I went on holiday, and now she says the heating only works when water is on.

I’m going back to have a look, and I really should have taken photographs. The outgoing lines from the controller (x2) are as they were.

Air to water heating with solar pack

Good evening fellow sparks !
Here’s a question for all you guys working with Solar as part of your installation !
I have a pal that’s had one of these all singing and all dancing airsource heating systems fitted complete with solar panels and a 5kw battery storage !
He has an off peak supply that is on cheap rate from 7.30pm until midnight.
When would the best time be to set for battery discharge ?
I thought late afternoon until 7.30pm so that while they are home cooking tea and usage is...

need to replace thermostat help

Hi, cm921 honeywell thermostat is old and need a new one so i ordered a new replacement (picture below). This new one i bought which is coming tomorrow has a receiver not sure if I have to wire it up but I assume i have to, its hannicks brand but ill see if it can pair with honeywell maybe it does idk, so I was thinking if I won't be needing the wired honeywell receiver at the boiler I can just make sure theres no voltage running through it by turning off cb and testing with my fluke pen (i...

Horstmann H425 Timer Replaced with E7+ but not working

I have a Gledhill Pulsacoil III cylinder. Recently the Horstmann H425 timer stopped working and I hired an electrican I know well to replace it with a modern Secure Horstmann Electronic E7+ Hot Water Programmer (Gledhill confirmed this timer is compatible). He says he connected it up the same way as the previous old timer H425, which worked fine before the mechanism failed.

However I think he must have got something wrong, as the boost element works fine on the timer but the economy 7...

Contactor wiring with Nest thermostat

Hello, I'm trying to get a contactor to work with a nest thermostat to activate an oil filled heater rather than a boiler.

I wired permanent live and neutral to the two poles at the top of the connector (1+3), switched outputs to the bottom (2+4) then the common and demand lines from nest to A1 and A2.

There's a click from the contactor when demand is called but no voltage across the poles so I've measured and it appears to be a dry heating switch which obviously isn't activating the...

Secondary loop pump + pipe stat

Hi Guys

Recently finished a new build house.
Commissioning engineer came in the other day (2nd visit whilst I wasn't there) and mentioned we need to put a pipe stat on the secondary loop pump.
We've only ever wired these as on/ off time controlled.
Apparently it's regs (heating engineer we work with hadn't come across this either before)

Any else aware of this ?

If so I assuming it's to prevent pump running if pipe is not up not temperature ?

Thanks Sy

Help with Drayton motorised valve heating system

So I've recently moved into a house with gas central heating, before I have only had electric only flats so I'm a bit new to it. During the past cold few days I thought I'd test the central heating to see if there were any issues.

The programmer is a siemens RWB29 and seems to work just fine, I can set the programmes and the two lights light up to indicate they are sending the signal for heating. The problem seems to come from a Drayton motorised Mid-position valve that keeps defaulting to...

Problem with Danfoss FP715Si Programmer

Re: Danfoss FP715Si Programmer
Anyone have any direct experience with this unit?

NB: There are quite a lot of posts online about this issue, but nothing I have found that has found the cause.

This Danfoss FP715Si Programmer that works fine.
But the following situation occurs from time to time:

The screen goes blank and both red lights stay on permanently,
and none of the buttons work, so the heating & hot water are powered continually.

I've not tried the reset, because this will change...

Boiler Fault

I’m hoping someone can help with this boiler problem. Couple have just moved into a house that has a Grant Vortex combi boiler. The current setup is a two channel programmer, turn the heating on at programmer & it calls for heat at stat that then returns to CH terminal inside boiler. Hot water from programmer on is wired to DHW port in boiler. Now it all works fine heating wise when it’s only the CH that’s on at the programmer but when the DHW is on along with the CH even when the heating...

Hive into Remeha Avanta

Hi.
As per header. I just want to make sure I do this correctly.
Remove old wires from X9 7 and 8 and link these two (from another thread on here. Is this correct?)
X2: remove link between 1 and 4.
Hive neutral to 5,
Hive live to 4,
Hive 3 (live switch) to X2 1
Do I need to link L and 1 on the Hive plate?

Photo is of current set up plumbed into a honeywell thermostat.

Thanks in advance!

Dean.

Electric radiator advice please

Hi, I recently moved into a house with electric storage heaters and am looking to replace them with electric radiators. Gas and oil are not viable options for heating the house and heat pumps are too expensive, so I've narrowed it down to a choice between ceramic core radiators and oil/gel-filled electric radiators (wall-mounted). Could anyone give me some advice about which is the best option in terms of efficiency and safety? I'm not bothered about all the bells and whistles, wifi-control...
