Wiring underfloor heating with 3 manifolds Discussion ThreadWiring underfloor heating with 3 manifolds Electrical Advice

Hi all, taken on a new build project and they have quite a large property with three separate manifolds. I have wired before with one manifold but getting slightly confused.

Do I need to take a fused spur to each individual manifold to power the pump or can this be done via the three cores back to the wiring centre.

I usually run 3 three cores back from the...

Electric cooker 2500 watts to plug into normal spain plug socket? Discussion ThreadElectric cooker 2500 watts to plug into normal spain plug socket? Electrical Advice

Hi All,

We have an old Country villa in Spain. The housing electrics were not good so the house recently has been completely re-wired to a good standard.
Due to some miscommunication with the electrician however, he forgot to create a separate circuit for the electric cooker.
Looking at the cooker, it is an old one...

Is this 70s wiring the equivalent of 4mm T&E Discussion ThreadIs this 70s wiring the equivalent of 4mm T&E Electrical Advice

Hi all,

I've been doing some mapping of the wiring in this property I recently purchased, the cabling for the main living and bedrooms appears to be a radial circuit (see plan, starts at the green dot, red obviously sockets and purple is the wiring). This circuit connects to a 32amp circuit breaker, and I presume it was laid in the 70s/80s. From what I...

Electric Cooker Electrical Advice

Electric Cooker Discussion ThreadElectric Cooker Electrical Advice

Good Morning all

Looking for some advice.

Recently had an electric cooker installed from a company found on check a trade.

Before engineer arrived he advised me to buy a 2.5mm cable to connect to the mains. When purchasing the shopkeeper informed me that cookers usually would need a 6mm cable but the electrician insisted that 2.5mm was sufficient and came and installed it.

I’ve had further advice that this may...

240v/50a through two two-pole circuit breakers? Electrical Advice

240v/50a through two two-pole circuit breakers? Discussion Thread240v/50a through two two-pole circuit breakers? Electrical Advice

I have a dedicated line for a car charger running to my garage. It's 240 V/50a coming from my main breaker box. It initially went straight to the charger, but I thought I could run it to a subpanel in my garage to allow me to not only run 240 V and 50 A to the charger but also when that charger wasn't being used, have two separate 120 V lines for a shed...

How do I get rid of phantom voltage on LED lights feed. Discussion ThreadHow do I get rid of phantom voltage on LED lights feed. Electrical Advice

Have switched a light fitting from incandescent to LEDS. The LEDs continue to glow slightly after switching them off. The fitting is switched 240V live wires and there is a AC 5.1V induced phantom voltage. Little or no AC current. How do I get rid of the phantom voltage. A 4uF 400VAC cap across the wires does nothing.

Line voltage wall thermostat wiring. Electrical Advice

Line voltage wall thermostat wiring. Discussion ThreadLine voltage wall thermostat wiring. Electrical Advice

Hi all

I'm in the process of replacing some 1970s underfloor heating line voltage sauter wall thermostats with new mechanical replacements (of which there seem to be incredibly few in existence - sauter were very unhelpful with suggestions!).

Anyway I have found a replacement (T4360B1015 for interest), but had a question about wiring.

There is only a single 2.5mm twin and...

Has part F now been modified with regards to notifications when installing extractor fans? It’s been many years since I’ve installed one but have heard that you must have attended a recognised training course, have a calibrated anemometer and complete a specific form for building control with the extractor details, extraction rates etc?

Where can I get one Discussion ThreadWhere can I get one Electrical Advice

Anyone know where I can get these. I lost the one I had and don't know where I got it from. It fitted in my little Wera ratchet or my Leatherman and saved me from carrying a separate key.
So that's all it is, a cabinet key (double bit) with a 1/4" hex end.

How would you code it? Having a brain fart and thought I'd seek other opinions.
