We have a combi boiler supplying dhw and c/h to our 4 bed, 2 bath house. The boiler is in a cupboard on the first floor bathroom and supplies shower, bath and sink.
There is an attic bathroom with bath and sink, and a kitchen sink on the ground floor. Recently the dhw does not fire up if kitchen tap or attic hot taps are turned on. If we

What valve is the flow Discussion Thread

Hi all
I removed a radiator off the wall and forgot to note what valve was the flow as I'll be replacing with a new radiator with a trv. Without putting back and re connecting how can I tell what pipe is the flow and what pipe is the return because I assume the trv goes on the flow. Btw both plastic caps are missing off the valves. Where does the bellows fit on a Grohe adagio single valveflush? Discussion Thread

I can't see whether the bellows which activates the flush is supposed to fit inside the opening at the top of the valve or press down on the edge.
It doesn't seem to be aligned with the top so I don't know what's up with it.

I have an unvented megaflo that it or nearby components make these strange noises shortly after drawing hot water and then shutting off. In this example, water was drawn for 10 seconds and then shut off. The noise continued for around a minute. I couldn’t find where it was coming from and no pipes were vibrating.

Wondering if i could get a little guidance, I have a 3/8 plastic line running from a softener to a coffee machine (because laziness), however the line pressure seems to be maybe 2.5 bar. I was viewing a house today and came across a few questionable plumbing practices. Looking at the outside oil boiler I noticed pushfit plastic flow/return going into the case and wanted to know others opinion on this? I would of thought building regulations required copper from the boiler for a certain distance.

I couldn't see the actual boiler as the case was padlocked though.

Low pressure mixer spray tap recommendations ? Discussion Thread

I'll be installing a new kitchen, DIY, and the Mrs wants a mixer tap with a switchable spray/regular flow. No pullout with hose but more like one with a spiral round the outer hose that lifts out of a mount and you can move it about a bit. Something like you see on catering sinks. Leaky elbow on bath drainage - I screwed up!! Discussion Thread

I could kick myself! I finished the drainage for my bath today but upon testing there was clearly a leak from one of the elbows just before it hits the soil pipe (see photo). I'm not happy, this was a simple joint with all the space and time but somehow I haven't applied enough solvent weld. Do I have any options? I'm guessing I'm going to have to cut it out on the straights and use a coupler, any pro tips...

I'm moving to a flat currently fitted with an induction hob, but I really can't live without a wok burner. The best wok burner approved for domestic indoor use is a German propane-fed portable burner. I'm told the manufacturer can re-jet it for methane - but is there a compliant way to get a portable device permanently plumbed into the mains? If so, is it something any registered engineer should be happy to do?
