A workmate of mine was asked by a canvasser if he was interested in double glazing. He said yes and the canvasser said the salesman would be round at 6.30

He arrived just before 7.00,he proceeded to look round the hole house but didn't bother to measure up.He then sat himself down asked for a cup of tea and started his sales pitch this that the next thing.Sometime later he then looked round the house again and this time measured up.Sat himself back down again then the punchline(quote) came £10000 for 9windows and a door!My workmate just laughed then within a couple of minutes the quote was revised down to £7500.He was still laughing at this point and told the sales no.nothing would be signed tonight. The salesman said "not even if a ridiculous offer was put on the table"he was told no but asked what the offer would be but was never told.

In the end the salesman had to be asked to leave"we've heard your sales pitch leave your card with the quote and leave please"

The salesman stayed for 2HOURS needless to say my friend won't buy anything from this salesman or company.

So my question is how far do you go with your sales pitch to get the business/contract?

Sorry for the length of the post this is the shortened version.

I think a lot of window sales people are the same.

My older brother had a rep come out to measure amd price up his whole house quite a few years back, must be around 8 years or more now, from one of the biggest national window companies, and he had the same thing.

Rep turned up, spent 30 mins inspecting every single window in the house, came back into the room, sat down and my brother said, no messing with prices, just tell me your lowest price you can do so the guy proceded to spend an age scribbling down figures, punching on the calculator then more scribbling, then the sales pitch that lasted for nearly an hour showing how the windows are made, every single componant that goes into making them, and how they we're far superiour to every other window company that has ever existed, showing photo's of failed windows from other companies and all that rubbish..... then hit them with £10,000 all in, and this was 8 years ago.

My brother laughed and said forgot it, but thanks anyway.

Guy started punching the calculator again and scribbling and my brother said that was your best price, im not interested, you can go now..... £8000....

No thanks was the reply.

Guy said ok £7500 and that's final, so my bro said, then why didn't you say that in the first place, I ask for the best price only, not interested, you can go now.

Then the guy started getting insulting saying you must be stupid to turn down a £2500 discount and this price is for now and it will be £10,00 after he leaves.....

The guy nearly had to be removed from the house, he just wouldn't take no for an answer until he was screamed at to f~*% off.... then he finally left.

Only ever heard of window sales people being this bad.

Oh, and this was the company that did "you pay for the front of your house, and get the back free"

It is the training course they do. It is almost an indoctrination process, they are brainwashed not to accept no for an answer. The training system originated in the USA and was developed for a well known vacuum cleaner company.

The only way to get rid of them if they are really good is to tell them to F**k off or physically remove them from the property. A word of advice as well make sure you buy a new toothbrush if you've let them use your bathroom and you didn't sign:lol:

Kev

Is that from personal experiance

Yep!!! I actually did a course with a manufacturer in the USA related to cars and finance but the same course:lol:
