Hey, this is my first time attempting to tile in my first home. Did a bunch of research last year and made some notes and decided to go for hardie backer board based on that research.
Finally getting around to tiling my bathroom, have bought the hardie boards and they all have a slight bow...
Hi all, I'm tiling my bathroom that has plywood boards on the floor. Apparently you are supposed to put backer board first, I got HARDIEBACKER 6mm. It's my first time tiling with them (and 3rd in total) so I don't know how tight they have to be around walls, pipes, toilet etc? Can you fill gaps...
Hi all,
I've read through as many posts as possible on the above before posting this as I know it's annoying for folk to answer the same question again and again. I'm about to begin tiling a bathroom floor 2mx2m in size (New build house 2yrs old). Chipboard flooring. Rather than rip the...
I have 20l of Nassboards latex tanking paint but am unsure if a primer is required?
The substrate is cement board which is clean and not dusty.
If I do need a primer can I use 50/50 PVA or must it be something expensive!
I have also been looking for a good value tape for the joints and am put...
I wish to tile over good solid floorboards on a suspended floor, and a small bathroom. I believe I should use 6mm cement boards prior to tiling.
What backer boards should I use? I see Hardiebacker is probably the leading brand but I’m not in the trade so I’m looking at £15 a board. Have found...
I’m tiling around a bath. The backing board is ply and is slightly wobbly. Should I secure it before I start tiling? The trouble is if I secure it then it’s not level as the bottom of the backing board sticks out slightly. If I leave it slightly wobbly then I will get a straighter...
Hi All.
I'm installing a new shower enclosure and hoping for some advice on fixing the 12.5mm Abacus Elements board. Once fitted, I'll be adding subway tiles
One of the walls (external) is dot and dab plasterboard, fairly level bar the area of tile adhesive I'm unable to remove without taking...
Hi,
I'm refurbishing my bathroom and looking to install underfloor heating under tiles for the floor. I have removed the old subfloor and planned to install 18mm plywood then 6mm jackoboard then Ditra Heat Duo mat with the loose lay cable before tiling. I have purchased all the materials but...
We have a floor to do which has ended up being way to low. We to bring the whole floor up about 14mm before we mat it and tile it. It is 180m in a very old expensive house that has original skirts and stair cases still in place that we need to get up to. We figured a 12.5mm cement board would be...
Hello experts!
The walls of my bathroom were extremely uneven and out of plumb, I've now lined them with wedi style foam backer board (abacus elements board). It has worked well for 90% of the room, walls are now mostly flat and level. Though, there are a few areas where I have still ended up...
I've just started the process of removing the old tiles from my new build house, and it looks like they've used GLASROC Tile Backer Board as the base.
As expected, whilst removing the tiles, it's taken off the yellow layer long with it. Do I need to replace the whole board with a new one? Or...
I need to tile 2nd floor bathrooms in new builds. The existing floor is vinyl over the subfloor of 22 mil TG4 Caberdec Chip Board. Can I rip up the vinyl and tile directly over the chip board, or should I lay down hardibacker or other material first. If yes, what thickness would you recommend.
I am refurbing my bathroom and would like to install boards on the walls to create a nice even surface for me to tile on.
Its a brick and plaster wall once i remove old tiles i am planning to use the following materials and method, can you please advise if any problems u can see with it

Hi. I posted a thread yesterday but hadn't received any answers. Probably says more about the question than anything else!! Anyway, I have hacked the plaster off the wall so we are back to the blockwork. I'm able to get Wedi board where I am from Topps Tiles, however, they advised me that the...
Hi,
I am building a new bathroom in my own house. The room is on the first floor in a newly built extension. There is no floor yet, just joists. I plan to have a tiled floor with electric underfloor heating. We haven’t chosen tiles yet but will probably go for large format floor tiles.
The...
Hello all,
I have a very small cloakroom to do and they want electric underfloor heating. Contrete base and I have about 10mm depth I can use for insulation board below the heating. What board gives the best insulation?
Many thanks
I have porcelain tiles 600mm x 150mm x 9mm that I need to fit on a wall 135mm x 240mm but the plastered wall is way out. I need a board to fix to level the wall and take the weight of tiles and adhesive. Wanted to know what board is best for doing this, what's the best way to fix to a plastered...
Hi there am wondering if anyone on here has tiled on to the wunda floor system with the foil boards and if so can yous tell me best way to tile it am not to sure a want to do the job as there’s not a lot of good feed back any information would help One of your fellow tilers 👍
I've had to take up half of my floor tiles including the 9mm ply that was underneath. I'm wanting to replace it but am thinking about using a cement board/no more ply option instead. Would a 10mm option work if I used slightly less adhesive? Any help is appreciated.
