Bit of an intro - I'm a competent DIYer and have been refurbing the bathroom on and off for the last few months - currently the only bathroom in the house so am refurbing around the family using it, hence it's taking a while.
So I've got the shower cubicle in and installed (tanked and tiled) -...
Please help. I’m about to tile a small two-sided shower area, 2.5m high and width 1.2m one way and 2m the other. Tiles are conventional ceramic
Substrate is 6mm Hardie Board glued and screwed onto original plywood to one side and plasterboard to the other.
Hardie recommend using their fibatape...
Hi All,

Will carry on with dot and dab (uneven old walls) for the boards but what advice could you give for where the shower pipes are?
If i was to cover them then the boards would sit out...
I'm tiling a small bathroom floor (8'x10') which is not level (1/2 low at the one end). I plan on using the TEC EZ floor level and then putting go-board on top of that. I'll thin-set the go-board in to the subfloor and leveled Tec EZ floor area. . When reading the go-Board for flooring...
Hello!
New to the forum and my first post on this after doing a bit of searching. I'd be interested to know your thoughts/experience of fitting BAL Board or Hardiebacker under the shower tray. The reason I ask is that with the build-up i'm looking at, if I installed the shower tray on the ply...

Has anyone used the Q Board for floors? I was going to put 10mm Q Board over wooden floor boards and then lay floor tiles onto it. I've been researching the product (s) and it appears to be a good system and fairly inexpensive too.
Has anyone had any experience using this product on a floor and...
First time I’ve used Orbry board and seems a good product and reasonably priced.
One quick question, when using it with the orbry self adhesive joint tape do you need to paint tanking membrane over the tape?
The instructions just say tape the joints to make it waterproof. This is for a shower...

I've been nagged for quite some time to polish up a granite chopping board that has gone very dull. Not something I've done before, can anyone advise on if the results will be good with dry diamond pads and if so what grades ?
Are all the extruded poly boards fixed with tabbed washers?
The photo attached is a showroom example, where they haven't used washers anywhere, an important detail I thought.
Surly not using them, there is potential for failures there????
Hi, I've used Fischer hammer in fixings to secure Gyproc tilebacker to a masonry wall. The fixings sit proud of the board by approx 3mm (12mm dia). Will this cause any issues when tiling onto the board? The tiles are 1200x600mm and weight 17kg each so need to be sure before installing.
Just wondered if anyone bought bigger quantities of screws for boarding floors ? I have a couple of large floors to board and the usual turbo gold screws only seem to be available in boxes of 100, any decent alternatives ?
Hi, I'm a DIY'er having stripped my bathroom back to joists and nearly ready to lay the floor.
My preference was to use 22mm NoMorePly or GIFAfloor boards direct to the joists and then tile direct to the boards, but I understand NMP is no longer available in UK? I've seen references to GIFAfloor...

Since everyone was so helpful with near tiling disaster last time I am hoping to get a bit more advice now that we are coming to tile our bathroom floor.
We want to make sure we do it right first time!
The floor of the bathroom is wood floorboards. They're in relatively good nick and...
Hello all.
I am after some advice. I am doing a bathroom job and have discovered that the walls are made of corrugated cardboard with plasterboard either side and then more plasterboard dot and dabbed onto this using multi finish. This extra layer has been removed and I want to add green...
