Hi Guys,
I’ve have a job coming up to install lily pad porcelain hexagon tiles.
It’s the first time fixing hexagon tiles, it’s straight forward just one wall 2.3m x 0.9m.
My question is this, when it comes to cutting the tiles is it only really possible with a wet cutter or grinder due to the...
Hi all,
I've brought an Evolution R210CMS mitre saw for cutting tile trims. It comes with a T20 tct multipurpose blade.
The issue I'm having is when I cut steel trim, it keeps kicking back and bending the trim.
My question is, do I need to buy the T68 blade for cutting finer metals? Or is it...
Hi all,
I am a DIYer trying to tile my bathroom. I am using a Vertex versatile pro bridge saw with a new 3mm diamond blade. I'm trying to cut grade 1 porcelain 300 x 600 tiles. However, every cut i do I am getting deflection on the blade and going off course by up to 4mm then snapping the tile...
Hey All
I recently had an absolute nightmare cutting 300 x 300 mixed mosaic tiles. They were a mix of glass and metal mosaics. My wet cutter struggled to cut through both materials and when it came to the metal ones they just ripped off the backing.
Anyone know of a blade that would do the job...
I'm having a real problem cutting 20 x 10 tiles that have a beveled edge on all sides. If I score across the short side (10 cm) the tile cutter works as it should but every time I score along the long side (20 cm) the tile splits across the middle of the short side. Does that explanation make...
I am using a Marcrist CK850 blade on a Rubi TC-180 wet cutter and cutting 1 meter Porcelain tiles that are 20mm thick and seem pretty tough.
It takes me about 20 minutes to make a 1 meter cut using light pressure on the saw. Also, Ithe blade generates a lot of sparks.
Just looking to get...

Hi. I wonder if you can advise me. I need 4 inch hole drilled through the wall to install new toilet waste pipe. The wall is partially brick, partially plasterboard on timber framework (see photo). The wall is tiled with extremely hard porcelain tiles 450 x 450mm. I have been advised that there...
Ok so I embarked upon my first tiling job the other day.
it went really well and I’m happy with it.
As far as I can see I made one stupid mistake.
I haven’t taken enough out around the sockets and I can’t get my sockets back on. I need to take around 5mm off the tiles along the bottom of the...
Hello, just bought one of these to cut large format porcelain tiles and whilst it snaps 10mm porcelain tiles no problem, I can't cut the 18mm variant despite the spec stating it can cut up to 20mm. Have I missed the small print somewhere that 20mm excludes porcelain? I'm using the scoring wheel...
I am about to start tiling the walls and have spent a long time planning the setting out of all the walls. The result being that I need to tile down on to on to a raised tiled shower tray. Because the shower tray has a fall I will need to take a small amount off the bottom of some full tiles for...
Hello,
We recently bought a house and have refurbished it. We have ripped out and redone 3 bathrooms, two are fine, one looks terrible. There have been so many issues but the main one I need to understand is this;
The architect advised that the walls should be metro tiles, herringbone pattern...
Hi everyone
I was kindly given an older used Rubi ND180 smart wet cutter, it’s not in the best condition but it works and will do me for a while as I’m just starting out.
I’ve taken the disc out as it needs replacing. I’m just looking for some advice on whether you think stick to Rubi wet...

Not sure if this is allowed, but I got an email the other day from CTD. It contained a link to Marcrist for a free 850 INOX cutting disc. Give your details and show/print voucher to your chosen store...
Hi There, im about to start cutting my floor tiles for a wet room, i have a shower tray former with an end drain. The cut patterns are fairly self explanatory however am i right in thinking that dry cutting the 'fall cuts' is not an option? Im thinking wet cutting is required to create the...
Hi I've been a 'tiler' for a very long time but in the last 10 years moved into maintenance and new builds for an investment company. I have avoided extra large format tiles like the plague but now our firm is putting up 5 new houses all with 1200x1200 floors and 1200x 600 on the walls...
