Hi all,
I will be doing a job for relative soon which consists of a bathroom floor.
its a reasonable new house (6 years) The floor is a laminate on wood at the moment.
I would be priming then tiling with Weber SPF.
should I reboard & why?
Hi, first post and a beginner to tiling (first job as a favor to parents!). The job is a small bathroom ( 5 x 8 ft ), original subfloor was rotten/warped chipboard that had been soaking over a period of 5+ years from a leaking bath seal. Pulled it all up and put down 18mm ply over joists with...
In process of a loft conversion. All new stud walls etc. bathroom ceiling is normal 12.5 mm plasterboard. External dormer wall is done in thermal plasterboard (polystyrene backed) one wall with 12.5mm plasterboard. Shower enclosure and wall is done in 22mm ply. Don't ask the reasons it's what...
Hi.
Can any give any adive on the following please.
I have a Plywood floor which is to be overlaid with Dural CI++ matting and then 12mm Travertine 60x40 laid on top.
Also an AKW Tuff tray with which 48mm mosaics are to be laid over a Dural WP matting.
Is a SPF adhesive sufficient for this...
Ive got an 18mm chipboard floor over layed with 18mm ply screwed at 150mm centres. The ply was coated on the back and edges with sbr before installation.
Running a level over the floor some joists are up to 7mm lower than others.
I intend laying 600x300 porcelain tiles over this using...
Hi All,
I've got a problem with tiles coming off in a shower (my own) having been tiled onto 12mm ply. I built it, and being a carpenter used 12mm ply thinking I was doing the right thing to stabilise the stud walls. The tiler said it was ok to tile onto and used SBR to prime it and tiled...
Evening all,ive not worked with marmox before and was wandering what thickness it needs to be for overlaying on 18 mm ply upstairs floor ?
Hi all,
I'm doing a spot of DIY in the bathroom and need a bit of reassurance: Is 18mm ply strong enough for tiles over 2" thick joists spaced 360mm between centres? The tiles will be 300x600x10mm and there'll be a layer of decoupling membrane between them and the ply.
Cheers,
James
Hi everyone
we are looking to lay travertine floor tiles over 2 substrates- a new concrete floor and the existing suspended wood floor ( 18mm ply over the floor joists) because of how the house was built we do not have a straight line where the 2 substrates meet ( along, up a bit, along, up a...
I am currently quoting on a level access wet room on the ground floor of a property. The floor is currently concrete. Although another company has quoted to install a ply subfloor, would that mean they are planning on lifting the concrete?
Hi,
Planning to tile my bathroom in the next few weeks, the floor structure is chip board on the new extension size and floor boards on the old part of the bathroom. The floor is solid and I'm planning to put 6mm no more ply glued/screwed down.
Do I really need to put Ditra mat down? Part of...

Hello fellas,
I have a customer wanting to fix 825x550x20 limestone tiles on underfloor heated, suspended 12mm ply floor.
Due to bifold doors, the height is restricted, so cannot overlay ply.
I'm getting mixed advice from tile suppliers, underfloor heating manufacturers, and adhesive suppliers...

Hi, I am about to board out a wall in 18mm ply ready for tiling. Only using the Ply because it is left over from another job and would really help to free up some space in the garage.
Been trying to have a read on how best to seal it but cant find any difinate answers. I have read about BAL...
Hi everyone,
I am having an extension built at the moment. My builder didn't seem interested in doing the tiling so I said I'd find my own tiler.
The extension will have a suspended floor and I think the builder is planning on installing 22mm chipboard and assuming the tiler will work from...
I've bought some 18mm WBP ply to replace the floorboards in a bathroom approx 2.5 x 2m. The floorboards were less than 18mm thick themselves and sat on joists that were about 400mm apart.
Having done some more reading it now seems that 25mm ply is better when floorboards are replaced. Given...

Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and hoping for some advice on the above topic.
Apologies if this has already been discussed.
I'm in the process of renovating my bathroom. It's very small,
had a bath removed and had a quadrant shower tray fitted.
The 2 walls forming the corner for the...
Hi, I've been getting conflicting advice about whether I should put a DPM behind the marine ply I've got to support the tiles for my shower surround.
The reason I'm using marine ply is because I'm making my own tiles- an old artist friend of mine has done this too, made all the floor tiles for...
