Hi everyone,
I'm new to the forum, and hoping for some advice on the above topic.
Apologies if this has already been discussed.
I'm in the process of renovating my bathroom. It's very small,
had a bath removed and had a quadrant shower tray fitted.
The 2 walls forming the corner for the...
Hi, I've been getting conflicting advice about whether I should put a DPM behind the marine ply I've got to support the tiles for my shower surround.
The reason I'm using marine ply is because I'm making my own tiles- an old artist friend of mine has done this too, made all the floor tiles for...
Hi
I'm looking to tile a cloakroom floor with 450x450 porcelain tiles (and later a small bathroom). I'm a competent DIYer and tiled walls before but not floors. As usual I like to be well informed before starting a job and hoping on some advice or direction to further reading.
It is wooden...
Hi all,
Sorry for the really dumb question.
Can you guys please tell me the best place online to buy 18mm WBP ply, wickes only has exterior that has to be treated and I would prefer something already treated, this is for a bathroom floor...
A builder has a floor for me to tile:
4sqm in an ‘L’ shape bathroom. 18mm ply. No deflection. 30x30 porcelain tiles.
He says he has had problems with floors in the past so now he uses Mapetex Sel matting as an uncoupling membrane. He said use rapidset flex to stick it to the floor.
However...
Hi everyone - I've boarded out the walls and fitted the shower tray and bath.
I'm keen to get the floor tiled now and was wondering what the best way was.
I've got 12mm pale marble tiles to go down.
The substrate is 18mm t&g flooring ply (I'm planning on fixing it down a bit better as I had to...

We currently have laminate flooring on our bathroom but due to a leak we have the opportunity to pull it up and lay tiles instead. So we want to lay ceramic tiles on an upstairs bathroom in an edwardian house. So far we have been given different advice on what the best option is: pull up the...
Hi
We're coming to the final stages of our build, externals were done by builder and internals have been DIY except for plastering.
Im now looking to lay a slate floor in an opus pattern in our kitchen and would really appreciate some advice on the best course of action.
We have underfloor...
Hi, Over the main bathroom floor im using 18mm WBP over joists with added noggins. On top of that will be 10mm Marmox board on a 2mm addy bed. Total 30mm.
The shower tray is a AKW tuff form tray (22mm). I wasnt going to put UFH over this tray just over the rest of the floor but looking at the...
Hi, DIYer here and trying to work out my best solution for tiling around a drop in tub with an upstand without spending a fortune. Fortunes being relative, of course. Have tiled on solid walls before but this is a bit different. Here's my situ:
Tiles: 10mm thick ceramic, not porcelain, floor...
Hi guys
very quick and probably simple question, can the shower tray be cemented onto a HB250 or does it have to be straight to ply. Doesn't make much difference for me either way, just that I have enough HB to to allow it.
On that note how does the cement effect the ply - would it...
Does anyone use a primer with No More Ply before tiling, the booklet with it recommends SBR latex based primer.
I've still got some Mapei primer G leftover from doing the walls , would that be acceptable to use instead or would it be best to get some SBR anyway?
Thanks for any info
I have had to cut ply for 70m of floor and boxing. I am sick of the sight of the stuff and have been wanting to make the transition to using cement boards.
However with my current job I have to price the floor including boarding over the weyroc due to its deflection and rises.
There is a floor...
I have a pub floor to fix 25 metres of Brazilian slate to, he floorboards are all over the place wpb ply is fixed 9mm at 6 inch centres, screwed, it's still gonna be a ***** so are there any screeds out there to go on the ply?
Quick reply needed cheers !
Anyone ever used it? sales man was showing it to me today, its a cement based board, basically a cheaper version of hardie backers, they felt quite good quality and hes doing them me at £8 a 1200x600 sheet.
he recons to stick them down to floorboards with tubes of this super strength adhesive...
Yay or nay?
Customer got a thin ply fastened to floorboards which he says he can't get up.
If I make sure they are well secure, use 6mm hardie backers stuck down and screwed down into floorboards do you think this will be efficient? Or shall I tell him its gotta come up down to floorboards?
had a builder in to day been to tops they told him you should not prime ply showed him a there spec sheet i my self have always primed ply so as he never had a failer nor has he asked him to bring me a copy .anybody seen one
